I would say ‘did you not see all the attention given to the sword in BFA and the build up to WW?’ then I remembered it’s a Tyraelz thread so no real discussion will happen, just a bait post and leaves.
Jokes aside. The sword was never forgotten. Folks just don’t read the quest text.
We stopped the worst effects of the sword at the end of Legion. Battle for Azeroth has a major plot about stopping the world from bleeding out.
I think the devs thought it was plenty resolved for the time being. Sometimes wounds leave scars.
But players won’t accept anything less than the sword being pulled out. So, that’s probably where we’re headed now
It wasn’t forgotten. It’s been addressed twice, and will now be addressed a third time in the world soul saga. If you want to talk about something being forgotten, you’d be better off talking about the bracken hide story.

I don’t see sense in this lore since Pandaria to tell you the truth just a messed up line of time we are seeing.

Honestly, if people really understood planetary scale, they’d realize that sword is nothing to the world soul. A thumbtack in relation to a boulder. Barely a speck.
Think about it. A long time ago, a poster measured the size of Sargeras’ sword by flying down its length, and estimated it to be about three miles long, with perhaps half that overall length imbedded into the earth. Seems like a lot, right? That is, until you consider that the planet is at least four thousand miles in diameter, and likely much greater. Earth itself is nearly twice that size (7,918 mi.).
Splinters are painful, but little more that a nuisance. And we ‘disinfected’ it long ago…so yeah:

This is my issue with how they tell stories. They do something, then ignore it for years, then bring it back like hey guys look at what we are doing with that thing.
