Sap breaks stealth? era

when did this happen?

Always.

You have to spec into the subtlety tree to get a 90% chance to return to stealth after using sap.

i don’t believe that was the original vanilla release. thank you for the 90% thing tho, i didnt know

It was. I’m getting an error when trying to post the link, but if you go to WoWpedia and search Sap, it’ll tell you the relevant patch note history where Sap had changes.

Some aspects of Classic really are quite archaic. So if you want to be a Rogue and not break stealth when sapping, it seems you either put up with it in Classic Era, or you play in WoTLK which will eventually become Retail 2.0 the way Blizzard is heading with these Classic expansions?

In PvE spec you probably won’t have imp sap - so (in dungeons) you want to sap right before the mage will sheep / tank will pull. And be ready to run or vanish

In PvP spec, with imp sap, as Menotaur said - it still has a 10% chance to knock you out of stealth. Usually won’t happen, but when it does, especially in a BG, you can feel a bit like a fish out of water.

Regardless Sap is a amazing ability in Era!

Nothing like watching an EFC pop a free action potion, rocket boots, etc. just to be sapped right as they pick your flag XD (one of the great times to use a skull of impending doom to avoid that sap - but they have to activate it before the sap).

yes i must have rolled my first rogue in BC like @Saryen said.
i didnt un-stealth for any reason on sap when i played rogue.
i looked it up,
BC Patch 2.1.0 (5/22/2007)
Sap no longer removes you from stealth when used.

It is actually kinda fun when it removes you from stealth in pvp - especially when noone else is around to murder you.

You can almost feel the surprise on the faces of both the players :joy:

If you do decide to put points in the sap improvement than you can also get less chance for people to see you in stealth and greater movement speed in stealth. Of course this takes away a lot of points if you’re not going a dagger build. And if you’re gonna do all that I would just recommend going hemo spec.
