yeah do something, or just get rid of this stuff. literally the grossest affix, i hate it more than necrotic tbh
(no, i never tanked, so i’m not sure which is worse) ![]()
As a tank, I’ve always preferred necrotic and sanguine, because I have the most control over how they go, and I don’t have to rely on dps players. My worst M+ experiences are inevitably when I have to trust the dps to handle something. When they do, it’s great. It’s just so infrequent.
Sanguine in Uldaman is straight cancer
It’s absolute trash with:
Hallway dungeons
Mobs that won’t move unless you LOS. Mobs will target people unless the ENTIRE group LOS’s, not just the tank.
Mobs hard casting uninterruptable casts in it.
It making Fort week an annoying slog because trash WILL HEAL no matter what.
I just lite them back the way we came where there should be plenty of room. I warn the group that that’s we’re flipping the direction if there are packs with frontals.
I move the pack off of anything immovable when something is about to die so it never gets dropped on the immovable ones. Sure, we lose a little cleave damage on it but not nearly as much as wasting the cleave on a ton of healing going into it.
Generally, there shouldn’t be anything in it, if everything has been done right, so uninterruptible casts aren’t an issue. There is sometimes some bad luck with things that jump, especially randomly, landing right where you don’t want it as it dies, or something you’re moving away stops and dies before it follows you, but that’s when you hope the group is paying attention and gives it a knockback or something.
I got 4 million sanguine healing over the course of a Ulda 20, that has all of those issues. This is the whole reason I prefer sanguine to a lot of other affixes. If I play well I can almost single handedly nullify the affix and it’s one less thing the dps can screw up. Maybe this is cynical, but I look at basically every affix through the lens of, “what can I personally do with this to minimize the likelihood that a bad group isn’t going to brick the key?” Everything I can take off their plate is one less potential fail point for them. Some of my best push weeks historically have been necrotic and sanguine, because as long as I play well, I take an entire affix off the board.
Sanguine puddles should work like the puddles at Magmorax. The mob healing, or the player taking damage should implicitly soak the puddles. They can then bring the duration a bit up to 30s or 40s.
Oh sanguine. Gotta love it. I don’t mind it on my BDK because I can often grip mobs out. I really despise it on my destro lock since it’s a mechanic that forces the tank to constantly move mobs out of my Rain of Fire.
The worm things in Underrot are pretty annoying. Easy to kill if you focus them down, but it requires the dps to actually do the right things which is a big ask.
Tanking tip: If one mob is about to die, stun/slow/root them while you’re pulling the rest away from that one. Then he dies and the mobs are already out of it. Not always doable, but sometimes it works nicely.
