Sand trolls shadowlands

I have discovered that trolls have an option to have the color of the sand trolls. My question is have the sand trolls join the horde and if so I’m hoping all troll tribes will they eventually join the horde?

Some of them hanged around us in the zandalari capital city.

That is the only explanation i got.

i assume they’re following the zandalari’s example, and joining the horde. or, y’know, they’re actually just the old zandalari zealots or whatever from cataclysm.

I think we’ll see a lot of troll tribes join the Horde now.

Aside from the new skin options being cool, I actually have a problem with this overall. If you flip every troll tribe into a Horde-aligned faction you basically paint portions of even the Eastern Kingdom (which is almost fully Alliance-controlled) red. Pretty large advantage when you have an ally in every Alliance zone you enter

the whole world belonged to the troll empire before, it will again.

TAZ’DINGO! the troll empire will rise again!

zandalar forever!

I think it’s a situation of letting players make up their own RP lore here. The darkspear starting zone wouldn’t be canon to the sand and forests. And we haven’t seen their tribe officially join the Horde.

Could say they made connections in Zandalar and some individuals may have followed the zandalari’s choice. Or maybe you joined for entirely unrelated reasons at some other point. It’s kind of just an open door to interpret however you want.

I wonder… now that the trolls are all united together, we will ever see a troll raid again? For a long time the troll raid meme was totally a thing, every other expansion or so we’d get a troll raid. Will Battle of Dazaralor be the last troll raid ever? That would be sad, considering the Alliance stole the show in the end.

I guess all we can hope for is that Throne of Thunder will be added as a timewalker raiding, allowing us to raid trolls forever every so often.

Would be a shame to miss out on troll raids. Looks like all we’re getting in Shadowlands is a dungeon atm

Wait!!! The sand troll god is in the raid in shadowlands. If we don’t kill him maybe the loa of graves enslaved him.

Do they really have a choice at this point? We (both sides) wiped them out in Tanaris years ago. Then Cairne and Varian stopped a plan to attack Stormwind (with a hydra of course) before Cataclysm. Then we (horde) get to Zuldazar and immediately proceed to murder them in their own part of the city. Followed up by murdering their General.

Join us or die.

My assumption is that the tribes themselves are independent but Zandalar serves as a central hub for Troll culture and members of the other tribes freely visit it regularly.

I’m assuming, particularly after the brazen attack on Zandalar by the Alliance and the trust built between the Horde and Zandalar, that many trolls from the various tribes are willing to join with the Horde.

The Alliance has been beating back the trolls long before they joined the horde.

Having red armor isn’t going to suddenly make them a threat.

Yes, they are! Dazar’alor is a welcome port to all. Even the goblins who enslave Trolls have a place, though it’s the more neutral goblins we already know… not the bigger cartels from Undermine. The Alliance can even set a hearth at the Hozen inn and make use of their banana hammocks. (if they can get past all the guards who rightly want to murder them)

All troll tribes have a speaker/ambassador who lives in the troll capitol, except the Darkspear who’s speaker house was previously vacant. Even two now defunct tribes speakers live in a basement together. Speaker Ik’nal of the Shadowtooth Clan (wiped out by the Twilight Hammer when they took over Mt. Hyjal during Cataclysm) and Speaker Malaka’raz of the Drakkari Tribe, which we all got to witness their death in Zul’drak.

Otherwise though, we have three troll tribes already confirmed in the horde… the Darkspear obviously, Revantusk Tribe in The Hinterlands, and the Shatterspear Tribe… better known as the Dancing Troll Village that was a difficult to reach easter egg between Darkshore and Moonglade until Cataclysm, where the mountain collapsed and “Garrosh recruited them” to be a quest plot for the new Darkshore alliance players experience.

there is no lore for it.

if they’d let you start factionless, then i wouldn’t have as much of an issue, but darkspear would have to not receive a heritage armor. not a very fun idea, but that’s what you cause when you do stupid s**t like that for customization’s sake.

It’s really just new color choices. Like others have said here you can RP a Sand Troll or other tribe joining but official lore has nothing as of yet. All the new skins are technically just Darkspear as far as the game is concerned.

There’s no explanation for it other than them expanding racial identities. That’s thanks in the new intro in Exiles Reach shifting away from a more narrow exposition for your character.

Essentially trolls aren’t just Darkspear anymore. Dwarves aren’t just Bronzebeards. Hopefully it’s something that gets touched on but I think the intention is to leave it pretty open ended so players can make their own back story

All the tribes have speakers in Zandalar and other non-zandalari trolls can serve among the zandalari as evident with jakrazet who was a sand troll. Zandalar joined the horde, so all those non-zandalari are now allied with the horde to a degree. Those that you play as are the ones who took the initiative and joined the horde because of this.
