Sanctuary Exists in Warcraft

I don’t know anything about Diablo, but the text from this event confirms that the world of Diablo does in fact exist in Warcraft’s cosmology.

“‘Strange winds blow in from another world. Sightings of odd, bag-holding creatures spot the land, and heroes are filled with renewed vigor.’”

I wonder if the Titans know about this world’s existence. Is it part of the titans’ one true timeline? And I wonder what other crossovers could possibly happen?

I know the real world was mentioned in an old commercial as being in somebody’s visions.

The Deities Anu and Tathamet are basically a Titan who split into two.

One Light and one Void.

The core of the Titan was left behind as the World Stone and that was eventually destroyed eliminating what was left of the Titan.

It is said that only by binding them to shards of the World Stone smashing them upon the Hellforge can they die according to Lore and only if their Souls haven’t been tagged by someone else to be tethered to the Black Soulstone.

With the World Stone gone the only tether they have left is the Void which means you have to go there directly to kill the heads of this Void Titan.

So does that mean I will finally have my dream of getting Narlant Weed as a thing in WoW?

That game is literally not canon.

So is this event. Blizzard tends to do these types of promotions, and usually throws in some flavor text that isn’t meant to be taken literally. Highly doubt Blizzard would make Sanctuary, as well as the entire Diablo universe exist beside Warcraft.

I remember artwork from Starcraft that had Argus and Azeroth on the galaxy map.

I don’t think promotions are the same as events though. Like, I wouldn’t put the Amalgam of Rage mount or the Zergling pet in the same category as an actual event. One-time events, I’m pretty sure, are almost always canon.

Haben’t seen it, but idk, that just seems like an Easter Egg, which is different from an actual crossover.

  1. it was a joke post.
  2. the joke being that this event will be as canonical as hots. Which is to say not really.
  3. assuming they ever do decide to connect the world they would probably use HoTS storyline(which is an inbuilt storyline of why the universes are connected) but they won’t because Blizzard likes their world to be “separate” aside from the occasional nod to Blizzard games being “real” in Overwatch(because that world is suppose to be our earth in the future)

As interesting, and neat in its own unique way for both franchises to exist in the same universe, the problem is, that Warcraft already has it own High Heavens, Burning Hells, Pandemoniums, Astral Realms - quite a few actually (Especially when it comes to the High Heavens, I mean, look at Bastion).

We’d have an oversaturated universe, even if I like Diablo’s inspiration from the cosmologies and great wheel of the FR setting.

The cosmology of the two franchises does not really… work, together. I would take the flavor text in this case with a grain of salt.

The Telogrus Rift has remains of a Starcraft beast. I think they are just Easter eggs not a sign of the same universe.

I sure hope not.

Crossover easter-eggs are just for fun, they’re not meant to imply any actual connection. This comes up all the time and it’s exhausting.

I don’t care if the general populace doesn’t see it as canon, the fact that now we have the Priests of Rathma in the forsaken !

Doness, what do you think the “BlizzCon” that the murloc pets carry the banners of is in canon?

I remember someone discovered something in the past which said the Legion had raided Sanctuary afore. It makes sense for the Demons of Diablo and the Legion to bare some links.

Can’t remember if it is Hand of Darkness or Phantoms of the Void (I think it is the former), you can see a burning Legion symbol somewhere.

I find it weird when people take what is meant to be a fun event or an easter egg to be a sign that different franchises are part of the same collective universe.

Same with Starcraft too. As you can see dancing lady holograms on The Mobius Factor (and also in the cantina on the Hyperion) that look exactly like Night Elves.

Also the fact that Starcraft also takes place in the future as Earth is canonically in Starcraft. The UED being the big red flag.
