It would make my life, honestly. I mean can you just imagine?
P!nk is amazing, she’s one of my favorite singers, but that’s not why. It’s so ghostly and beautiful, like imagine a vampire having a ghostly dance like this. As if someone is dancing right with her, but no one is there. It’d have a paranormal appeal mixed with beauty. I’m not sure if such a thing is possible, but come on, just imagine for a second.
Just the floating movements and grace, AUGH I WISH. Mighty need right there.

As a certified edgelord god such as myself, i want san’layn as much or even more than all of u…but honestly, i already did gave up, blizzard created their own opportunity to give us san’layn when they bringed them on sylvanas behalf fiasco, and they throwed this in the garbage since now sylvanas is gone and there is no leader within the horde that will accept san’layn like never in the game, not only that, but most of the san’layn exclusive presence were shown in the alliance campaign only to die and never show up again…
“but lich there´s a chance we might get ventyr to compensate it” i tell u this…no, we wont get them nor any other race in shadowlands for one simple reason, they are souls, they belong in the shadowlands therefore no alliance race will come out of the shadowlands, and besides while the san’layn are elegant elf edgy and arrogant vampires, the vethyr are based the most on the nosferatu the first form of vampire we got to watch on movies, the ugly one, thats the reason venthyr are so ugly, and although i would love san’layn im not interested or even want the venthyr as a new race, and if blizzard give them to us as a way to give an alternate version of san’layn i will actually feel insulted

Yeah, the devs really need to work on their exposition. It’s not at all clear to me what it all meant.

I’m glad I’m not the only one to feel this way. I’ve been at this for… gosh… almost 2 years now. Because the first megathread back on the old forums was made prior to BfA coming out, on April 13, 2018, when I started it all upon hearing about Allied Races. This was prior to knowing San’layn would show up in BfA–we learned that a month later.
I fell in love with the vampire lore from WRATH, not this new stuff. New stuff is cool, but I want a playable race for the stories I’ve crafted for my characters. Not just something out of the blue. We have plenty really ugly characters on Horde. I like the regal, noble look of vampires, like a charm works as a dangerous lure.
At this point me neither. I like to think there’s more to the story and have brought up the holes more than once, but with 0 sign of them since 8.0, even in the QUILL OF LANA’THEL stuff… I’m losing hope too, admittedly.
But hey, I’m still roleplaying and crafting stories, so I have that going. I wish I could share some art I’ve bought of my toons, could get people inspired again, buuuuut I don’t have trust 3 anymore.

The Venthyr from Rivendreth gives a strong hint for the possibility to explain regarding the nature of San’layn and probably any given vampiric coven abilities and/or maybe…maybe a release of AR?

I’m sure we’ll see more allied races in the future. Whether we see any in Shadowlands or not is up in the air, though.
While I still think it’s important to continue to show support for races people want playable, I’ve had to slow down some thanks to college work getting in the way. I’m hoping to get a bunch of stuff finished in the near future so I can get more time to show some more megathread support in general. On the other hand, I am taking a bit of a break from WoW in general, which is refreshing for when I do get the inspiration to do some more posting.
Maybe with my birthday on March 27th, we’ll get lucky and see some new playable Horde race stuff. I know what my b-day wish will be for!

Now is as good a time as any to add San’layn AR’s imo. With Corona virus going around it makes sense. Corona aka Covid aka Corvinus virus. You know the virus that turns you into a vampire or werewolf. 
Glad to see this thread is still going. Just wish we had more info on the Undead AR because I really do not want LF Forsaken. Here’s hoping that we kept the San’layn in hiding for just such an emergency.
On a side note about undead. I’m rather excited for the new Forsaken looks coming with Shadowlands especially since one of the female models looks like my all-time crush Elvira. Maybe female San’layn could get an Elvira hairstyle.

I found a few neat videos that explain how bat echolocation works:
Thinking in terms of San’layn bat forms, I don’t know how to implement this as a gameplay feature, but this was an inspiration for my Echo Squad idea. I’m sure something could be done to give the bat form more utility than just as a form of flying.

Probably add a time frame like “foes appears to your minimap for 6 or so seconds” with a reasonable cool down.
Zandalari’s regeneration is pretty strong, with a given cool down & interruption. Nevertheless strong,
I can see the same for San’layn,
PS: if only bliss revamped the rest of the races racial like for Worgen leap (similar to warrior’s)

Meh it probably would make sense on worgen too… but I guess they could add more racials to choose from on older races if they add San’layn as cosmetic options for blood elves… Although I would prefer the amount of resources a allied race takes for San’layn-blood elves.

I really had hoped we would’ve gotten a Patch 8.3.5, and received the Worgen and Undead flavors of Allied Races. I would’ve loved to see San’layn made playable. No matter what, I will always, and forever, support San’layn!

Honestly it’s rational to add them as they have a rather authentic rich lore and BfA left a big gap to further include them in upon following Prince Dresden’s hunt.
Though I do not see the possibility of going “neutral” like Pandaren, I see them strongly aligned with Horde as we alliance have the werewolves,
Either way Blizz should strongly consider it. Hopefully they’re seeing this post and OP’s insight of it

I had a thought regarding the amount of San’layn that would be adventuring out in the world if they became playable. Would it make sense to assume that whatever faction of San’layn that would be the playable San’layn had most of their people in stasis within coffins somewhere up until the time they become playable?
Thinking of a reason, one could be the popular “find a way to quell the need to feed on others” theme that is in a few forms of vampire media. Becoming free from the Lich King and having control again, the last time most of the San’layn likely had any form of control was before their current state. It’s possible some may not be able to control their urges when suddenly free, and resources might be limited to help control them. Thus, the majority of them could have gone into slumber while the other San’layn and the playable faction’s leader go off to seek more resources and also a permanent solution for how to get them under control so they can have better odds of working with the Horde and ensuring their people’s survival.
It would make the San’layn a bit more sympathetic, as opposed to being outright monsters without a cause, and possibly explain where a lot of them are. It would also help to explain things a bit better, such as Dreven’s actions. Especially if the “victims” on the boat were all just Sylvanas loyalists trying to make him bend the knee to her. It would also be neat to start your San’layn from within a coffin, a bit similar to how Forsaken start in the Cataclysm remake.
I’m sure it isn’t the ultimate/most perfect way to write playable San’layn, but I figured I’d throw out a suggestion and see what people think.

Naturally I agree with all of you. The time is now to add them! San’layn got mentioned in a recent Tali video as well, but for customization. I will say I still really want them as an allied race, there’s so much lore to be explored. I don’t know if they’ll explore the additional customization options like Wildhammer or Sand Trolls, and how they join the Horde/Alliance. They could say they did so with both of those, but if they add in something like San’layn? There’s a gap there. Not to mention key things like how new San’layn are made exactly, and how they’re trained up to be supposedly as powerful as a blood prince.
There’s just so many possibilities that would go down the drain if they were just customization. If we had to deal with that, though, at least it’d be nice if our race name changed to San’layn should we elect for the customization, and fangs or teeth like demon hunters would be lovely.
That said, I’m going to share some art and give credit to artists here as well that I’ve gotten recently of San’layn (some not so recent)!
This piece is of Salder, my void priest San’layn. I had asked for his ears to look bat-like, and this artist NAILED it. This came out so wonderfully. Also note those awesome talon/knife-like claws. Hoping for claws on our vampires, yes yes yes!

Last (and least, trust me)… I made two pieces here that I actually am OK with. I’m a NEW ARTIST! So this is day 9 of my digital art journey! I’m not great yet but I wanted to share these pieces because it shows a few features I think would be super cool for San’layn!

As you can see, he has shark-like teeth. He also has blood splatters on him! AND his hair is dyed red on the tips! He has facial and ear piercings! I would LOVE for all of the above for all characters. It’d add more flare and flavor. Some shadowing like for beards growing in (5 o’ clock shadows) would be awesome too. Think of all the possibilities!
