Yeah, Flight form…just wings, not only did Blood Queen Lana’thel have them, but the Vampires in the movie “Van Helsing” had them as well.

Redid my compilations for what are most requested for San’layn.

Note; I am not considering racials as I expect them to be overhauled in the near future.

Feel free to copy/repost/edit this.

Just when I was starting to think that this won’t happen, recent news in Wowhead, with the new NPC Amara Lunastar coming in 8.2.5, open the possibility of San’Layns as a future allied race.
What u guys think about?

Who is that? And where is she?

A new NPC coming in 8.2.5 …
Just open Wowhead man…

She looks dope. Hope that means we will get night elves on horde after all : )

I’ll break my silence for the moment at least to say a few things. Truth be told I haven’t been playing the game for roughly three months now, but I have hopes for it yet still.

I’m not really a fan of the prospect of undead night elves joining as a playable race. If we’re to get vampires, I strictly would like San’layn–they have established lore, stories I hold dear, and the entire reason why I started this thread for San’layn (THALASSIAN ELVES) specifically as opposed to vampires in general.

Would I be opposed to night elves being mixed in with blood elves for vampires? Well, no, but then you fall into the ‘great, more elves’ thing. I personally think a modified Sin’dorei model would be our best bet.

The potential vampire night elf could mean San’layn activity though. From the shadows, the true San’layn could be turning night elves as a show of power and a warning. Who knows, really. Or she could just be a Halloween thing. Either way, it shows that vampires are on Blizzard’s mind still.

This news isn’t really jawdropping, but it’s a light nod and maybe a little bit of hope for our ideas to break on through to reality some day.

I agree with these statements.

San’layn have a lot to offer the story and already have an established presence and theme and are already ingrained in the lore.

They are the Blood Elves we played in Warcraft 3 for crying out loud! One of the best enemies of Wrath, the most popular expansion ever!

Night Elves, but zombies just doesn’t cut it for me.

That said, I am going to try and view this in a positive light and look at it as Blizzard still being interested in the idea of Undead Elves in general.

I’m still going to complain but I will try.

I will take literally any news that pushes the needle away from Lightforged Undead.

Literally anything.

That being said… inventing a new breed of vampire elf while ignoring the tempting option that’s already on the table… doesn’t seem like a very smart idea for them.

I dont see why we can’t have both tbh. The vampire elf skin tones would be appreciated. Especially when the nightborne only get 3 skin tones.

I don’t think there would be any limit to allied races. And having reskins is easy to do to effectively make races nuetral.

I am happy to see the risen night elves in the story. And it would be interesting to play these night elves on horde.

Although I do agree with Fallyn that San’Layn having thalassian models feels better. So I do hope we get both.

Its almost fall and almost Halloween season. I see thats the perfect time to introduce spooky races if blizzard wanted.

If it’s possible to have both, I’d be alright, but I likely wouldn’t play a vampire night elf. I’m already not too keen on this idea of model sharing between factions, and I personally highly doubt they’re going to scrap the faction war now. It’d pretty much change the game far too much, so unless there’d be a ‘betray your faction’ option, I don’t see it as being a regular thing.

Horde vs. Alliance will likely continue, otherwise what’s been built for the game has been pretty, I dunno. Pointless. As much as I hate the faction war, at this point there’s been too much blood shed due to both sides to just forgive and forget.

Regarding where San’layn stand, I do want those established elves as playable. If we just get vampire something-else-or-other first with no sign of what’s been here since Wrath, well, I’m going to cut my losses and not return to the game. Granted, one player doesn’t matter, I’m aware of that. I’m just sharing my thoughts on it. I’m a roleplayer, so my stories have been built on established lore, and I really really want to see something come to fruition that supports lore already there rather than pulling something out of the hat. I like the look of void elves, for example, but not much else.

Something like Vulpera or Sethrak had an entire zone dedicated to them, so in their case, it would be different. Their lore was built lovingly and would bring something new. Those two new races would bring something else to the game and not need to piggyback on someone else. That’s a case of new races that I personally would enjoy seeing, whereas San’layn would be a case of old races seen before that I’d enjoy due to established lore we’ve had for years.

Something like void elves though are just taking one race and turning it into another thing with very little lore behind it. Whereas in the case of San’layn, we’ve had that lore since Wrath and I’d love for what’s already there to be expanded, not thrown away for another race pulled out of nowhere (this is if there’s a possibility of getting JUST vampire night elves.)

So, it’s more than just models. It’s lore. Many here have suggested a grab-bag Allied Race, something like Mah’gar which would be lovely. I feel like one of the major issues with that, though, is many night elf players and Alliance in general would be extremely pissed off. I wouldn’t blame them, I was annoyed when the Alliance got Void Elves because they got hairstyles I can’t use on my horde elves.

Plus, it just opens the even worse box of worms where Horde might get vampire night elves, and alliance would get Lightforged undead. Needless to say, that’s be a bye-bye forever from me.

But, let’s assume we get a ‘best case scenario’, in my eyes at least, where perhaps we could get Thalassian San’layn along with Kal’dorei San’layn. It would lead to many interesting possibilities and explore the blood curse further. This all could just be a Halloween thing though, as the wowhead article said. I guess we’re not going to know for sure until the patch comes out.

I’m not saying I don’t deserve it, but that sounds like a lot of work on my end.

Yea. Well the model work is done. I say why not. I do believe the san’layn should be thalassian based. But I am also open to more undead races.

Especially since it seems we are open to getting nuetral versions of enemy races. I do not mind this personally I welcome it. It is up to each of us to decide our characters story. If we want to join be a character that defects we now have that option with void elves.

I always favor more options. I know that blizzard was dissapointed in how the pandaren turned out. I remember in the MoO blozzcon they expressed desire to havr faction differences. They enfed up sharing all cosmetic options and differing pnly by lore. They might possibly get faction specific heritage armor.

We got a basic 2.0 version in allied races.

And if we had to choose I wouldnt mind adding the vampire elf skins on nightborne. Since we have the night elf skeleton on horde anyway.

The alliance has expressed interest in high elves so this could just double down on sharing toons.

I dont mind new races coming up in the story. I like to be surprised.

Also note that the skin is from the dark ranger toy. When alliance uses it they become an undead night elf already.

When horde uses it they become an undead thalassian.

As for lightforged undead I will hold judgement until ingame official representation. I realize posters have there own idea but sometimes new things can be good. Especially when it expamds the lore and explores the wow universe’s magic.
