Well his overall theory is that all races will be effectively neutral at some point or at least most of them. Which I wouldn’t mind. Most of my progress and gold is on horde characters. My alliance miss out on my gold and other things.
P.S. I think he favors a light and void additionally faction system for grouping or something. But many others favor opening up races to be nuetral overall. Which I wouldn’t mind since I like some of the alliance races.
He predicted many things in the past. Which can be a cause for concern the first time I heard of lightforged undead. (I doubt they would be called that).
Undead have been wanting Undead Paladins for a while I always thought Calia was a way for them to get Undead paladin similar to how Zandalari were our way to get troll paladins. An allied race would be weird on the alliance but it would be a throwback to the alliance of Lordaeron which they seem to be doing for there human races.
I expect more San’layn lore when we start seeing the lich king again, or maybe some Slyvanas action as her story reflects that of Arthas.
I’d rather get actual undead paladins than that trash. Like I mentioned previously in this thread, undead can use the light. It just hurts them, and so it requires willpower. You have to make a sacrifice to use the light in this case, but you do it anyway, and in that case, you’re noble. Suffering for your beliefs, and pulling through despite that? Admirable.
This “Lightforged” nonsense is a mary-sue copout and even further gives the Alliance something that should be Horde. It’s, all in all, something I despise and hope to never see.
Well I wouldn’t think they would approach them like that. Lightforged is already a thing for Dranei.
The interesting points I find are
they required Anduin and a forsaken undead to make
The Naaru described Calia finally being in what they “envinsioned” so ideally making people into holy zombies is a thing.
The light is all about control Calia may have her mind altered similar to the forsaken
She visually looks more Titan structure like, which would be a good customization option for humans imo.
I’m hoping undead paladins arrive anyway next expansion. Perhaps a new order arises. Undead players have been wanting them for a while as we see one of the horsemen possess abilities to wield the light in undeath in two incarnations.
Making the races nuetral would make Calia’s involvement in the forsaken make sense as she mostly seems to align herself with the alliance powers.
I have no problem with the Forsaken getting the Paladin class, considering that it has been asked for for a long time, but to make a brand new allied race that didn’t exist before for the sole purpose of having undead on the Alliance and to have undead paladins…I honestly don’t know where to begin with my problems with that.
If faction neutrality does become a thing in the game, it is my opinion that something like Lightforged Undead are even more pointless of an idea. Just give Forsaken Paladins and if they want to work on rep to be able to waltz around in Alliance cities, I’m fine with that. Then again, I have a hard time imagining what neutrality would be like in the game without a huge overhaul.
Seems like the wait for what is next just keeps getting longer and longer. x- x
I don’t think it would be a focus (just cause of paladins) but more of a creative freedom thing.
I know Calia is Arthas’ sister she has been made undead by an unlikely force.
Jaina’s brother has been made undead by our lich king 2.0 He has a unique model as well.
All we need is Arthas to somehow come back and more death related events to make them relevant. Slyvanas is hinted to follow Arthas’ storyline. So I can guess something is gonna happen relating to all them.
Perhaps forsaken will have a choice between Slyvanas and or Voss, or Calia in the alliance some day. Other races seem easier to get nuetral. Some orcs are in the argent tournament, some humans already help out the horde alot in Kul Tiras.
If races did go nuetral I wonder how that would affect the San’layn and there story…
Right well opinions on LFU aside, I think a good ground model for a racial mount in relation to San’layn could be a skeletal lynx. It’s honestly a shame that blood elves never got those lynxes as a racial mount in my opinion. I can’t take the chickens seriously, though maybe if they got remodels, I’d be able to.
I originally suggested that a spider mount of some kind would be a good fit for them. There is one in the game, though it apparently costs a lot of gold, so I’m unsure on how viable it would be:
I would suggest skeletal hawkstriders, but I’m sure some people would find my humerus suggestion to be a fowl one. :V
The question of what a San’layn racial mount might be is actually pretty interesting, as it would determine just how closely they associate themselves with their past lives. It was interesting that the void elves got the “Starcursed Voidstrider,” which appears to be (as far as lore is concerned) a hawkstrider infused with void energy. This reflects the fact that the void elves still consider themselves citizens of Quel’thalas and, if they had the opportunity, would bring the entire city into the Alliance as Alleria has attempted. There is dialogue in the war campaign from Umbric that confirms it is his intent to reunify Quel’thalas under the blue banner.
So the question of a San’layn mount would have a lot to do with how they define themselves as a culture. A skeletal (or otherwise death-infused) lynx would be great if they felt connected to the lands now known as Eversong and the Ghostlands, where lynxes are found aplenty.
Alternatively, if these San’layn were high elves when they died or if their nostalgia for their old lives stretches back further than most, they might do something with a unicorn; once a symbol of Quel’thalas during the second war. A necrotic unicorn might not have as much “coolness” as some other options, but it’d at least have some basis in lore.
But if the San’layn closely identify themselves with the culture of the Scourge or even the Ebon Blade then they probably wouldn’t use fauna from the eastern kingdoms at all. Instead, to demonstrate their mastery over necromantic energies, they might elect to use an undead creature that would have been beneath them in status in the Scourge hierarchy. The Forsaken love using bats as mounts, so if San’layn closely identified with a culture of undeath then they might favor using gargoyles. Or, heck, imagine if they constructed abominations just to carry them around. Yeah, imagine using an abomination as a mount!
I’m not sure which way I lean, but it’s an interesting question nonetheless.
I had to look that up But yes that would be really cool too. A plaguehound would be awesome.
I’d love a spider; if it was smaller and looked less glamorous (I mean, it’d be a racial mount) then I’m sure people wouldn’t mind. Heck, I own that spider and would love to see more of them! Also that was a … fowl joke. Hekhekhek.
Yeah, well those dirty traitors won’t ever have Silvermoon or Quel’thalas back! But you make a good point, yes
If they make it look similar to Invincible (not exact of course, and no wings) it could be pretty cool, I bet.
See this one I think, lorewise, makes the most sense. San’layn I feel like would identify to the scourge and Forsaken the most. And that depends on (pretending they’re going to be added) how they get their new home back. Would the forsaken extend a kind hand and show them the ropes? If so, I bet they’d meld with that culture, mixing the regalness of blood elves with the gothic themes of forsaken. Pretty much how vampires work in general, actually.
Heck maybe they could settle in Undercity if we ever get that place back, but it’s doubtful. Along with the Forsaken, of course. There could be a wing where rather than green sludge, we see blood in the sewer.
Blood golem that’s grounded is a cool mount idea, yeah. Or there’s always those beasties created by the ‘blood contract’ of which has no San’layn lore sadly. But the effects on them (the pets you get or whatever) are super cool, and would make for a nice done-up mount.
