Same sex relationships in WoW!

I’m supportive of our friendly fellow NPCs having same sex relationships in WoW! But does anybody else feel like it’s a bit…off?

The characters who are in these relationships in Dragonflight just seem to exist as vehicles for sexuality. They don’t offer opinions on the Dragon Aspects, Razsageth, the strange new adventurers in their lands, or even something simple like their favorite scented candle taste! It’s a bit saddening that the only reason they exist is because they’re gay, and that it is their only defining trait. A bit like a confining, digital prison.

Blizzard, gay folks are much more than their sexualities. Being sexually unoppressed is true freedom, but when your sexuality is the only part of you that matters it is pretty much the opposite of freedom.

I don’t think its typically recommended to eat candles.

Candles are an improvement for rock eating orcs tbh.

Well they have nutrition don’t they? What do you mean?

It depends on the flavor.

I usually don’t even notice it until someone points it out and makes a huge deal out of it, and then I just wonder what their malfunction is for making such a big deal out of something so normal.

Well. I understand. But some people like enjoying the things that WoWs art team puts out. There are 6+ same sex couples in the new expansion, and none of them serve any purpose but to be gay. It’s a bit insulting actually, gay people have interests too.

“but when your sexuality is the only part of you that matters…”

Please listen. You are so much more than your sexuality. I wish I could give you some advice on this, but I’ve never heard anyone say this before and I think it’s truly tragic.

you mean like trying to understand the environment and help animals battle against elementals gone wild? right, because there’s isn’t a draconid couple in the very first zone who have any interest other than jumping each other’s bones.

Exactly. It’s concerning!

there’s ONE couple that you help with their wedding proposal.
otherwise, all the other couples have quests and interactions with you that might mention in passing that their significant other is of the same sex (for example, a male character referencing “my husband”), but otherwise, absolutely nothing in their quests has a single iota to do with their “sexuality”.

having a same-sex partner is not a reference to your sexuality, it’s a reference to who you love.

You want an example of a quest where someone puts their sexuality front and center? The woman that tells you that her husband is cheating on her with another woman that you then go turn into a rodent so a cat can torment and kill her (Outland, first zone). Is that just a vehicle for her sexuality? It LITERALLY references her husband cheating on her, a purely sexual act.

I’m glad they at least added that! A nice touch.

Judging from your character mog/profile, I am assuming it’s safe to say you’re LGBT? How has this personally affected you? I’ve heard varying reactions honestly.

This and other posts like this make more sense when you read this part.

I like it. I feels good to see at least a TINY bit of Azeroth reflecting some of what my husband and I live through.

I mean, those elementals!! it’s just like in our garden! we don’t have the help of passing heroes to help us defeat them when they attack our tomato plants!
