Hey Hunters all - I’m currently hunting for rare Hunter pets and struggling with the one known as Sambas in the Twilight Highlands. I can find him easily enough but if I walk too close he vanishes. If I walk away a bit he re-appears and again if I walk towards him he keeps vanishing. I am lvl 120 Hunter. Any help with this beast would be appreciated. Thank you.
Weird. he might be phasing because I don’t know anything about the stealthing/vanishing issue. Try to use your Freezing Trap on him and see if you can pull him from a distance without killing him.
Maybe it’s phasing because you didn’t do the quests in that area.
Uh use flare? You know…the ability that knocks w/e out of stealth?
What is described in the OP is most definitely phasing and not stealth. If the beast was in stealth, you would see it and then be able to tame it if you walked on top of it. You would see it before then if you have “Track Hidden” on.
Only the MoP challenge tames required Flare to reveal them and you had no other way to see them.
Yeah but it would put the mob into combat…and thus the realm phasing would not happen…
Thanks guys - you’ve given me a few things to think about. I don’t think I have done the quests in that area. With the Freezing trap suggestion - I can’t get close enough to use it - he simply phases out. TY.
Yeah that’ll happen with Cata zones
It’s definitely a phasing issue. That being said, with the most recent hotfix there are now nonrare versions of Sambas if you’re going specifically for the model and don’t mind it not being the rare. Savannah Prowler, I think, is the name.
Same model is at Uldum during N’zoth Assault, location is at south from Halls of Origination and It’s Savannah Proudfang in Surveyors’ Outpost.
Hey guys - I just wanted to update my issue which was 1 single quest needed to be done and now I have Sambas. Thanks for all your help.
Flare doesn’t put the mob in combat.
Can’t you tame the lions in Uldum now instead? I saw someone do it less than 3 hours ago.
You can. But you can’t tame the rare lion himself, which I found as odd and likely a bug. When you hit Tame Beast, there is no in game response from the skill. It doesn’t try to tame, it doesn’t say “Not Able to Tame” or whatever the message says. It simply doesn’t interact.
I only say it seems buggy because you can even tame Corpse Eater now. I find it hard to believe a lion rare shouldn’t be tamable.
My hunter never done any twilight highland quest, but i still can tame him…
