Why the heck would the Knights of the Ebon Blade send Sally Whitemane to the Alliance instead of Thoras Trollbane?
Nazgrim to the Horde makes total sense. Considered honorable by the faction, fought for them in Pandaria, died a warrior’s death during the rebellion, even if he was on the wrong side of it.
Trollbane was an Alliance war hero, lead a kingdom that is in the Alliance, and has a living family member in Alliance leadership.
Whitemane led an organization that was largely unaffiliated with the Alliance and doesn’t really have any connection to the organization.
I just don’t understand, from a story perspective, why they’d pick Whitemane?
Frankly, it’s probably just that she’s a more recognizable character. Almost every WoW player who’se been around for a while remembers Scarlet Monastery.
Honestly? Considering most of the Alliance’s attitude toward the undead, sending one of their greatest heroes back to them dead might actually come off as insulting and blasphemous rather than encouraging.
With Whitemane, she’s former Alliance, but kind of a **** whose organization ended up turning against the Alliance, so her showing up as a walking corpse would probably upset fewer people.
I mean, a few people have already put forward a perfectly reasonable in-story reason. Thoras, by virtue of being the more familiar person, would actually have been unsettling to see as Undead.
What I really wanna know is why they gave Whitemane that horrible busted hairstyle after she turned undead. She went from looking ALL done up, blood red eleganza, pointed middle fringe sharp enough to blind an orphan, SNATCHED tabard/no pants combo to make Valeera gag, to just…my hairstyle from fifth grade, a full-set transmog, and the DK trial sword.
I see the point some people have brought up that perhaps seeing Thoras as an undead might be upsetting, but the knights come to Stormwind representing the kingdom’s former regent leader, who, after being burned alive, has been serving as the full-on lich king for the past few years.
They’re also in the middle of a mass scourge invasion, in which shambling corpses are attacking their towns and homes.
I think the whole “Upsetting to see” bandaid has been effectively ripped off lol.
