Can we please ramp up the perma bans for advertising in LFG? It’s back to the point where 70%+ of the groups are actually just bots or advertisers. It’s very difficult to find raid/key groups and play the game when you’re inundated ads.
At this point a 1st time offense should be permanent. Also, why aren’t there lines of detection for key words that auto report to an admin so they can review and ban as needed. I just don’t see how SO MANY accounts can be used to advertise. If you started perma bans they would go away.

I see no sign that they have any effective way of dealing with reports players send in. The only thing that appears to happen when you make a report is that ad disappears from your view for the remainder of the play session.
I thought removing access to the group finder for sub 50 players was supposed to fix that by keeping level 1’s from posting ads. That is what we were told. Perhaps they just wanted to keep levelers from being able to group to level together.
If they wanted to deal with spam, they’d have to hire a low-paid employee to deal with reports and set up filters for flagging questionable listings. But small indie company can’t afford that.
Yeah, except I’d keep seeing the same five day old ad just minutes after reporting it. And no, I didn’t log out and back in just to spite myself.
You remained logged in to that character for 5 days? I time out after 15 minutes or so of inactivity.
No, the ad itself was 5 days old. Makes me think that spammers found an exploit to keep their ads posted, even after being reported as spam.
get BadBoy addon, add “gold only”, “only gold”, “g0ld only” and other variants and never ever see this spam again.

That’s like saying “Take this can of paint and paint over that black mold. You’ll never see it again!”
Sure, it hides the problem from view for a while, but it doesn’t do anything to actually fix it, and eventually it’ll become a problem bad enough to circumvent the thing that’s hiding it (in your case, the addon filtering things).
Actually, judging by some of the ads I’ve seen in LFG, that’s already the case

I would say it’s more like turning off TV with ad breaks every 10 minutes and turning on DVD with the movie ad free.
Or using shades in sunny winter day.
Most of these spammers do not do anything illegal. They have legit accounts, they have right to use trade. You on your side can tune down all this spam.
The thread is about ads in the group finder, which are against terms. Players are supposed to report them, but nothing appears to happen.
If the ad is up for 5 days, that means the “player” who posted it is a bot. An ad goes away if you are logged out. Only an active bot can keep an ad up for 5 days.

What are you talking about,; at best they hide it from you when you report it for about an hour. That is it. There is no banning or punishment.

Yea I don’t think any add-on can do that due to how blizz changed things in legion due to WQGF (rip). But i use pre-made groups filter and set player greater than 1 and thus filter out all the spam that way since these groups only ever have 1 player in them. Yes it’ll filter out legit groups with only 1 too but it’s a small price to pay.
