Safest DPS for raids and m+?

What’s are some dps that tend to be meta in both M+ and raiding historically? Looking for a main and want something that I have a high chance of being able to push keys and do heroic/mythic raiding on that’s considered meta so it’s easier to pug if needed. Not sure if I want to tank or just dps so looking for some options. Thanks!

Mage is the most common meta for both, but rogues are very strong in m+ always (unless there are skips on the seasonal) and balance is almost always great in raid, though is hit or miss in m+.

Rogue was at the top of my list, then warlock and then mage. Though fire mage always scares me for some reason. Lol

Seems like so far it’s between mage or rogue.

Season 1 was frost (and I think s2 as well). Fire is usually a late xpac pick. Same with warlock. Aff is usually great early on and destro catches up with stats.

Just worried about warlock since from what I remember it’s hit or miss on rather its meta for m+ also I little bored of it. Never mained a eogue or mage though!

Pure DPS specs always (usually) have a meta option to choose from. Warlock, mage, and rogue are safe bets!

I duno what’s being named as meta for DF, but when I want to DPS (excluding Ele some this season) I’ve always just played BM Hunter and don’t recall not being able to do fairly well on it.

Your best bet historically is mage, warlock, and rogue. Mage is the favorite child, when one spec is bad there’s another to take its place at the top. Warlock has a somewhat rocky history in M+ in terms of being meta, but it also offers things like brez, gate, summons, and soulstone. Basically a requirement to have one in raid. Rogue tends to have at least one good spec and is often tied with mage for representation in the highest keys. Again, this is just statistically. Tuning god giveth, and he taketh away.

Safest M+: Rogue
Safest raid: Warlock
Safest overall: Mage

Thanks! Ya I figured tuning can always come in to effect, Really looking at rogue or mage for raiding/m+ now.

Not sure I enjoy all the mage specs like I do rogue so I am going to try a rogue first.

Mage and Rogues. Warlocks are usually super safe in Raids, but can be a little hit or miss for M+. Although I think Demonology has a pretty high chance of being good in M+ because of it’s AoE kit, kick, and high survivability.

Warlocks could be awful and would still get invites for closet. haha

Ya I love warlock but it being meta for m+ is more hit or miss than mage or rogue sadly… plus I need something new since i mained it for a bit.

For raiding my thinking is to pick a class with little representation for armor type and tier token.

Death Knight may be a good choice that way, plate wearers are pretty uncommon in my experience, and DK shares with Demon Hunter (only 1 per raid) and Warlock. Warlock might have two in a raid.

So for plate gear I’m expecting to face off against only two maybe three other players in the raid. For tier gear also only two or three other players.

Mage is one I will avoid, there’s usually a lot of them, and they share tokens with Druids and Hunters who often see two or more in the same raid. So rolling against 7+ vs rolling against 3+.

(assuming tokens remain the same grouping)

Currently in beta testing keys ranging from 10 to 15 and in this new heavy incoming damage meta Demonology warlock is extremely good. Starting look like the classes the last the longest will be the best.

I see a lot of people saying Mage, so I’m just here to confirm that yeah Mage is basically just the “You will always be invited to a group / raid for some reason or another” class with the “but you have to be good at it” clause for higher content.

Tried rogue and I love it outside of dungeons but not in dungeons sadly. So might pass on it. Time to try mage and if that fails… maybe warlock.
