I haven’t been a Thrall fan since Warcraft 3. I am pretty hyped to see him again. But, why would Sylvanas send assassins after Thrall? Maybe I am giving Blizzard to much credit, but I am not convinced those Assasins were Forsaken. Scourge maybe?

scourge dont really have a reason to go against thrall. however thrall poses a threat to sylvanas’ rule as warchief
“He hasn’t showed up to talk with any other faction leaders.
Kill whoever Saurfang is going to get help from, and Saurfang himself.”
Probably the orders they were given.
I will say this. It was beautiful. But so many of these antimations just keep leaving me wanting more and they always make me ask so many more questions. Perhaps the story teams intentions.
When I saw this my first thought was this:
“What is Thrall going to tell his wife”?
Green Jesus is married now with a kid. I wish they included that in the cinematic. Just a hint at Thrall going to tell his family he’s leaving.

Oh why Sylvie send assassins after Thrall? So there’s a plausible reason for him to return, there you go.
It’s nice to the Forsaken actually die and lose, especially in a cinematic. I actually cheered when Saurfang broke that one wench’s neck!

Doesn’t fit. Saurfang specifically says he followed the Forsaken. So, they were sent for Thrall.
I forget who it was, but I remember someone putting the theory that they may have been sent to watch Thrall and when they see Saurfang they decide to act. Would make some sense as to them not attacking before Saurfang gets there.
Fairly certain if Sylvanas wanted Thrall dead she would have sent more than two rogues. She sent a small squad after Saurfang initially. They were either already there and just monitoring Thrall and decided to try to take Saurfang’s head when he showed up, or this is more of Blizzard pretending Sylvanas is playing 4D chest and they were pawns sacrificed to actually goad Thrall into stepping into the trap she set with Baine’s execution (which she also plans for them all to escape alive).
I like the music in the cinematic but I neither like Saurfang getting preachy with Thrall after he himself was so close to just giving up and dying several times in this expansion alone, and dislike how this is just more Cinematic story that doesn’t really take place in game outside of one off quests in the war campaign. I’m not saying I’d like the plot to be focused around the Horde civil war, but it’s really strange to me at this point after all the pro-Saurfang members of the faction have done and are openly planning to do that they can still walk into Orgrimmar without getting arrested on sight for treason.

I’ve already given my answer to this but I’ll repeat it. Why wouldn’t she send people to assassinate Thrall? The symbolic figure of the new Horde. The legend, the myth, the values of the new Horde personified. The Horde she is actively trying to destroy and transform into something else. Seems like a rational decision to me. Not to mention, she could just blame it on the Alliance!

Dude he retired from the Horde and was farming with his wife and child. He literally gave up on the horde and was having a peaceful life in Nagrand cultivating weak wheat and polishing his tools.
Why would the alliance try to assassinate Thrall tho? He is known for being a good guy and not a sociopath warmonger, that excuse wouldn’t make any sense.

Its nicely made but in context of everything else it really didnt need to exist. The main things of this patch is Azshara and Mechagon, not the horde rebellion. The honor fanbase is already very anti-sylvanas, it’s the other parts of the horde that need to be convinced, which having thrall and saurfang killing forsaken wont accomplish. Finally, Saurfang’s already got 2 high quality cinematics, giving the alliance one would be benificial to easing tension in the fanbase.

if she was trying to assassinate thrall dark rangers would be better.
i could see her sending rogues to watch thrall to make sure he stays out of the way.
