About 2 weeks ago the game started wigging out and its now unplayable. I can sit in a major city (where trade chat works) all day long but within 3 minutes of leaving the city to do WQ's or instances the game starts to freak out and switch from monitor 1 to monitor 2 every second and then back.
I have contacted 3 computer repair places and they can't find anything wrong with my computer. I went to the tech support page here and no help.
I completely wiped my drive with a secure wipe program and did a fresh install of windows 10. I then ONLY downloaded a fresh copy of WOW and tried it. No change.
Nothing else I use and no other games have an issue. It ONLY happens when I play WoW and only when I leave a major city. Since there is nothing else on the computer it HAS TO BE WOW! I even tried changing the video card to a single monitor card. It did basically the same thing but instead of swapping it went blank for a second then came back for a second and repeated.
All my drivers are current and up to date also so not that either.
I really hate to go but I am not going to keep paying for a game that is unplayable. My sub expires in 12 days so hopefully they do an update that fixes it by then.
I am not sure but I believe the issue started with the update for the Hallows eve update. Maybe when it is gone and they go back to normal it will work again. I hope so.
This sucks so bad because I am disabled and can't really do much so I play the game to keep my mind from rotting away watching TV.
That's just darn freaky.
I'd heavily recommend bringing that to the Tech Support forums.

Tech Support, homie.
Sorry to hear this. I understand your frustration.
However if the fault was WoW you would not be the only person affected. So I wonder, is this happening to anyone else?
Also, have you tried talking to the helpful people in the Tech Support forum?

Seriously sounds like a broken driver issue or a failing monitor.

This is going to be your best option.
Post the problem on there. If it's convoluted enough/super wonky, a blue will respond. You will likely have mvp types pop in as well as overall general knowledgeable masses there.
It was a sign.
Go to driver updates. Your video drivers are out of date. Also, check for sound driver updates since there maybe conflicts without updating both. Even if a cursory check says they're up to date, they may not be.

I did and tried everything they came up with. Of course they said it can't be the game though.

Why would it ONLY happen in WoW and ONLY when I leave a major city? Even just wandering around outside a city will cause it. How would a failing monitor or driver see any difference between a MAJOR city and a minor one? A major city typically draws more on the graphics because it is more populated. Which is why FPS for some goes down in major cities. My FPS is fine 100+ in both areas. I swapped to one monitor and it still happened. Changed all the drivers and the video card so it can't be that.
And of course I went to the tech forums here and a blue responded but no help. They said to do what I have already done and it must be a conflicting app or something. I ONLY have wow loaded now and still does it.
It's something unique to your rig, OP. Nobody else has reported something like that here...Tech Support may have similar threads tho.
I'm a tech...that sounds like a power problem. I know you went to repair shops but did you take your entire setup? Did you try changing the power cords and/or monitor cords to the monitors (it's rare but power cords can go bad).

I did a clean install of the entire system and updated all drivers. Yes I checked by going to the Nvidia site after the clean install and also the sound drivers. Even checked Bios and ran software to check the install went well and it shows perfect.
Try using different video cables?
If using DVI, try VGA...etc etc...

Tech support. You try seeing if it's on DirectX11 if DirectX12 isn't working? Also some cables: I have to run DVI to HDMI because my gaming rig was made dumb and I don't want to ship it back (it was substantially cheaper than other 1060 options that were pure hdmi). Best of luck.
Have you tried using only 1 monitor while playing WoW?
Did you try both monitors separately? Or just one monitor?
If it doesn't matter which monitor you're using, I'd take Vixie's advice and look for power issues.
Try toning down your graphics, just to see if it helps or not. What kind of processor are you using?

Try playing with only one of the monitors
Disconnect one monitor and see what happens with the remaining monitor that is connected, see if you can play.
If you still have issues, try using the other monitor only, and make sure to use the other video output (don't use the same for both monitors)
That should eliminate any issue with one of the video outs or monitors. If you can get either to work that way, then try connecting the one that worked to the other video out and see if it then fails, or continues to work. That should tell you if its the monitor or the video out
Good luck

Yes tried one monitor and tried adjusting the graphics all the way down and no change. Tried both monitors one at a time and no change. So if it was a power issue the odds of both going at the same time would be astronomical!
And again, why would it ONLY happen when I leave a major city since being in a city is generally more graphic intense? I can be in SW and walk across the gate line and just stand still for 2-3 minutes and it freaks out. I can stand INSIDE SW ALL DAY LONG and nothing happens. I can literally walk back across the line into SW and it will stop after a few seconds and go back to normal.
I have an Intel Core i7 and an Nvidia Geoforce GTX 960 card. Since I am running two monitors that are VGA I have one adapted to HDMI and the other run to the card. I tried swapping the cables so they go to the opposite monitors and no change. I have a more than I need power supply for my computer. I have had this exact system for 3 years and no issues.
The problem seems to have started right when they updated for the hallows eve deal.
Just to be safe I ordered now power and video cables but I doubt that will help. I got the "gold" versions so they are supposed to be the best.
Sir, it is for sure something with your PC. As stated earlier, if it was a WoW, everyone would have the issue.

Tried all that and no change. With just the one monitor it just goes black every other second. Tried both monitors one at a time and swapped cables and tried that too. Tried swapping power cords also and still no change. Nothing I try gets it to stop.

Sounds like a device driver issue. You shouldn't rely on Windows 10's default drivers. Download the drivers for your GPU from their manufacturer.
