I know its shocking some people still love totems, just cause you didnt use it back then doesnt mean other people didnt. The totems is the main draw to me to shaman class if they never had them id probally never leveled one. As of this moment we are losing totem mastery, searing totem and pretty much every totem out there, besides for enhance windfury totem. So if i wanted a totem that isnt a cooldown i have to go enhance or bust, and just for 1 totem? No thanks thats not a shaman to me.

It was changed in sl its a cooldown on timer you cant spam it all time thats problem its gone too.
Back when juggling buffs was a huge part of the game, I was fine with dropping totems everywhere. The game has progressed to the point where totems are more useful as cooldowns than ones that are down all the time. I like Totem Mastery as it is now (not that I use it) because it gives the classic feel of being surrounded by totems. Iām sad to hear that itās being changed to a cooldown.

This isnāt about not using the totem. The issue is we were balanced around using them and they sucked to use. Having a mediocre at best damage totem that you had to use a gobal on every time you moved wasnāt good gameplay.
I love totems and stuff like wf totem and healing stream and stuff were cool. Searing totem was a joke that they could never make feel good to use.

I chose shaman for the class themes and flavor. I loved the lightning spells (all we had for damage as Elemental back in TBC other than Flame Shock and Frost Shock) and the healing spells. I thought totems were a neat idea, but I never played the class for any particular totem. Thatās weird, Bwemba.
depends on person, like im very old school i love that kind of gameplay, same stance on hunters mark I love that its returned. Besides totem mastery was a āoptionā if someone hated totems they didnt have to take it. Taking my āoptionā away when it only affected percentage who actually had to talent into it cause they wanted it is a problem. Especially when in sl the big thing for shamans was āreturn of totemsā so i dont think its unreasonable for me to not be happy cause I was sold and excited for prospect of totems returning to have the last remaining totems stripped away from me to become mr mail mage. It doesnt matter how clunky how old school designed etc it is its what āIā enjoyed what āIā wanted to use. I choose shaman over balance druid over mage cause i love and enjoy the totem system, when it was still around. However now i wont be in sl, 4 days left of my sub, I wish i could get refund but 30 day token was used, I guess i shouldnt of belived what was said cause they can take back promises like that. This isnt only reason for leaving I think I listed bout 26 or so bad changes, but it is part cause i really wanted to play shaman in content again but not till it returns to its class fantasy. Also i know alot of shamans are happy totems was nuked out of existence, but its core thing that even brought me to class in first place in bc.
I donāt think any shaman wants totems nuked out of existence but rather I think most ppl want useful totems which can be used situationally .
The game is designed to be very mobile now and if shamans have their damage tied to totems which need to be refreshed everytime you move using up a GCD, shaman are just going to be gimped compared to other classes with almost 100 percent uptime . Thatās just a fact .
I think searing totem being changed into a proc could work. Personally i liked it as a maintenance buff, but if it came back in some form at all i would be happy. I want my little fire spitting totem back. He was cute. I also think that the totem moving spell was a great way to deal with movement and they should bring that back too.

Would it just be cosmetic?
Would it do significant dmg where when it doesnt proc your dmg suffer or be immediately stomped in PVP?
Or would it be such an insignificant part if the gameplay that it is more if a; āoh look, how cute, I just randomly pooped an insignificant totem. Yeah shamans rockā.
I think It would be cool if searing totem was a 1 min cd lasts 15 seconds attacking 3 times per second for 15 seconds attacking random targets with minimal dmg but applying flame shock. gives us a low cd meaningful totem that synergizes well. and honestly the animation would be awesome, having fireballs flying everywhere. good aoe and single target use.
They could just buff magma totem or add the % chance to proc FS on targets.
At least then it would be an option
Totems were always the worst part about Shaman. Having to recast them everytime your group moves away from them was so tiresome. No other class had to deal with that.
It was especially bad while doing solo questing/leveling content having to waste all that time dropping totems just to be playing a character at full strength.
They were also a huge keybind hog.
As much as I donāt really think many upkeep totems should return, I will say part of me doesnāt mind the solo questing/leveling experience. Thereās a mini-game to finding a good place to put totems, then pulling mobs into it for a few minutes to optimize mana usage/kill rate.
Saying totems were the worst part about Shaman though is a sign that Blizz never took totems as a mechanic to the next level. Real bummer, because thereās a lot of potential there.
Less about the binds and more about the gcds. All of a sudden your damage would be garbage because you had to spend 4 globals just getting everything back up.
I love totems but having impactful ones that you donāt have to spam is better. I do wish theyād be visually more impressive thoughā¦ At the same time that would make them even stupidly easier to blow over in PvP.
Ya the GCD use for damage setup is just bad.
But its not just a shaman issue ā¦ see Frost DK. They need to waste 3 GCDās before they do any meaningful damage .
Searing Totem should be a dps cooldown ability on par with the Death Knight Gargoyle, and abilities in line with that. Make its damage competitive, remove its HP, increase its range, and MAKE TOTEMS GREAT AGAIN!!!
Searing Totem as a 3 minute cooldown DPS ability would not only fulfill class fantasy, be less time consuming than creating something new, but also scratch the totem itch people have.
Itās not just about setting up damage though. A big part of our utility is purge. Spamming it to try and get the buff youāre after on top of setting up your damage is just bleh. Or even our defensiveā¦ first we have to global to move our eshield to target and then spam globals to top them up.
I have a few 120s and none of them feel as gcd capped as enhance (and similarly ele but not quite as much)
