I honestly don’t find it to be hyperbole…maybe slightly exaggerating but it’s nearly impossible to be anywhere near decent at pvp without quite a few add-ons. And setting them up is never just as easy as simply installing them. There are definitely a few players out there who don’t need them but they are very few and far between. If you don’t understand macros and focus targets and don’t have a dr tracker and debuff timers and interrupt trackers and haven’t played for a pretty long time you are absolutely getting lawnmowered…it’s not even a question. The average person who tried pvp is nothing more than a very free kill with almost zero chance at doing anything other than being stunlocked and dead in seconds. That’s the pvp experience for anyone that isn’t extremely deeply involved in pvp.

Awesome…not being sarcastic I’m glad people are still having fun…it’s not a game mode I want anything to do with anymore I’m just making a point. There aren’t too many of you guys left to be brutally honest. But I’m happy you still enjoy it.
Yeah wow arena will never be super popular since it’s a niche within a niche it just needs like an active 10-20k player pool and it’s solid.

Do you think it would be more fun if everyone was involved or wanted to be? Or would you like to see it stay the way it is today? Just making conversation honestly not trying to start a fight I’m just wondering if the arena community in general would like the rest of the players in arenas? I personally would like to start playing again but currently there are just too many frustrating aspects to get me to que. Probably because for most of my arena time I mained a healer. I got so burnt I don’t want anything to do with it. But…if it got better id be down I think.
I have 4 addons downloaded. Diminish, bgenemies, nameplatecooldowns, and spy.
1 of which doesn’t even matter outside wpvp
Yeah arena is way more fun when a lot of people are playing and theres a large variety of queues.
Yeah even in real life you have more fun doing stuff you are better at. Certain sports become exponentially more fun the more skilled/stronger/faster you get.
One of the problems with wow is there’s no active beginner entry pvp mode. Back in the day low level bgs were popping and that’s what got me into pvp back in mop without me getting overwhelmed.

Yea like I said some people don’t need a lot. But most people really have no idea what is happening without add-ons telling them everything. By the time most people are done setting up for pvp the game looks almost nothing like the base version. Obviously there’s really nothing wrong with that but unless a person started playing the game with a pvp focus…getting into it after playing the regular game is a daunting and highly confusing and frustrating. The typical experience for new people I’ve tried to introduce goes something like…
Alright, gates are gonna open and we’re gonna go fight. This goes almost 100% of the time exactly how you think it would. They die usually insanely fast…so I’m like ok…what killed you… It’s either crickets or they’ll speak up and say they have no idea. This is where the conversation begins. You tell them they need to go get some add-ons and start learning what’s happening to them and their teammates. A few hours later after a crash course in pvp they may be able to last a few extra seconds and still be feeling completely and totally overwhelmed. If they stick with it after that great…but honestly in the years I’ve been playing and showing people and trying to get people into the game…which admittedly personally is probably less than 50 people but it’s definitely not zero…anyways…almost every single on of them just kinda backs away very quickly. If you stick with it, it can be fun and rewarding to be able to be competitive. Unfortunately…that’s literally the only reason to keep doing it outside of a mount and a title. For almost everyone…repeating the same thing over and over and over while it’s pissing you off is just not entertaining enough to keep people around.

So true. I almost never play and have unsubbed. Just waiting for the stupid six month sub to drop. I’ll never purchase a sub longer than a month on a new expansion again!
Every lobby is the same crap. Bm hunter/feral/sp. This is why people stop playing the game.
As an uber casual PvPer who hasn’t done arena since BC, looking at all the information that the addons give players makes me have no interest.
Having an addon track your own cooldowns, fine, having it track the enemy cooldowns for you? Why even play just let an AI run auto-cleanse like v1 decursive.
Ban all PvP addons and macros. You would see a lot more interest as the game would be about player reaction times and decision making not coding/engineering skills.
The fact that there are players actually PAYING for PvP addons makes it even worse IMO.
