Sad face, flight ore gathering is gone

I suspected it wouldn’t last but Blizzard took it away eventually. It was fun, handy and a really useful skill. I get it, they didn’t want us hovering over those exploding nodes but my characters across the game at every level had fun with it, in their expansion zones without exploding nodes.

If you do have to take it away, Blizz, then its well overdue to give us a mount that can mine and/or herb in flight. Druids can herb in flightmode, and that’s a bit of bias imo. Its simple enough; we have the ability to buy a mount waterwalking now, give us the same ability to buy a glyph or some sort of item to do the same for herbing and mining.

I’ve been able to gather ore and herbs on my mounts all expansion.

In fact, I just did it an hour or so ago.

I think they need hovered over for creating the explosive nodes.

No they can’t.

EDIT: ok they can, but only if they land, like a mount.

??? I’ve been able to herb in flight mode since I started playing WoW, what are you on about?

Yes they can pick herbs, but they have to land. Like with a mount. I may have conflated Knee’s original point about hover herbing being removed with the bit I quoted about them herbing in flight form. That was my bad. But still, no hovering.

I was sad to see it go away. Sure, for herbing while flight mounted I had to “stick it” (be in contact with the ground), so it is no big change to now have to do for minerals…it was just a nice change at gathering that sometimes inspired a few sweaty sessions.

I filled out Khaz Al mining about an hour after the nerf took effect

And can you collect a mine node while in the air, hovering?

Not anymore, as of Reshii One update…

They should leave it considering a player will be using steady flight to do it anyways

I’m surprised you ever could. Before Dragonflight it never worked like that. If you had something to allow mining while mounted, you still had to be on the ground, not hovering over the node in the air. Honestly, I don’t even know if it worked like that in Dragonflight. I don’t use hover mode at all anymore.

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t intended, which didn’t make it any less useful and fun.

In my case, I rarely use skyriding anymore. I’m rarely finding myself in need of getting anywhere fast and standard flight does me fine, so being able to hover and mine was an unexpected boon. Sad to see it go.

I’ve been maxed out on my tww mining and tracking gold per hour trying various things.

You make more gold mining old world mats than current expansion mats.

Heck you make more money open water finishing than you do mining in tww.

It’s pretty pointless

Yep and you could use it out going after the old world mats too.

One reason I liked it even more, to see something handy available througout the WoW universe.

I think the major change everyone’s noticing isn’t that you have to land (you always had to do that), but that now being in water counts as flying where it previously did not. This is the change people are noticing and are unhappy about.

Note: Only mining was previously able to be performed in water while mounted but not touching the bottom. Herb gathering still required touching the bottom and always has.

My pet theory is that it is to break those bot guys who can zip in and seem to have no gathering bar, it’s instant and they never miss.

What? No, previously a player using standard flight could hover just above an ore node and collect it.

I honestly wonder if herbing has some more in demand drops? I’ve been noticing that certain Khaz Algar herbing gathers go for more than Khaz Algar mining gathers… Leyline Residues in particular.

Ah, ok. Yeah, I do remember that. It’s crappy if that changed. :frowning:

Leyline residues are used in a lot of crafting recipes. The “secondary” drops from a node like the residue or crystalline powder tend to fetch decent prices due to being needed in recipes.

Not really. If the goal is money, gathering isn’t where it’s at imo.
