Yeah, I’m really hoping that gets fixed, but I doubt it will.
What’s even weirder is that the 492 timewarped gear from Black Temple can be used at the catalyst, but the 502 timewarped gear from the black temple raid quest reward cannot.
Not sure what the criteria is for what’s usable, you can’t really tell unless you go to the crucible and check.

True, which is even weirder. You can catalyst buyable 463 gear but not randomly awarded 480 to 502 gear. Lol.
honestly the 460s are usable tho… for my alts. free tier sets basically
