S3 Tank Meta

The meta is still tbd for tanks, and although I personally loathe chasing the meta, I am curious at how it turns out. I’m kinda sick of seeing VDH’s tbh lol.

So what do yall think? Does the tank meta influence you at all? Do any of the projected tank changes influence you at all?

As of now my prot pally and bdk are what I’m trying to decide between. How about you guys? I’m talking about higher keys to push, not the lower ones. You can take most any meat shield for the lower ones. Do you even bother with pugs or just run with guildies/friends?

Whilst completing higher keys haven’t been an issue as an off-meta tank, I’ll probably play meta this season just because it’s so much easier to get invites.

Raider io indicates that every single tank spec has cleared 20’s. I guess if you’re pushing over that, dh is a safe bet. Otherwise, play what you want.

BDK will still be playing a Tank, DPS, and self Healer all rolled into one toon

And it’ll still be underwhelming relative to all the other tanks that do the same thing.

Up until 3.2 (14’s+15s mix) meta is not a problem at all.
Unless you’re in the top 1%, meta shouldn’t matter. But since you are posting this question, the odds are you’re not. (Just the way things are man)

But yes, VDH is likely to remain meta tank until the day WoW dies, simply due to the utility, mobility, CC and self sustain he has.

Do yourself a favor and play what you like the most.
I love Brewmaster, so I’m never swapping to another tank for keys. Granted, I don’t push on Brew and just sticking to 12-14 range.

Also, keep in mind, yes, there is a bigger different earlier into the season, but if you wait just a month and get extra 4 slots of Myth track gear just by doing 12’s, you can go after pushing then. idk if it helps you, unless you wanna push to 3.5k within a month. Then go meta ofc.

P.S. Per RIO scoring, I’m 3.3k ret and this puts me into top 2.4% of players.

How do you get that its underwhelming? They are up near the top.

Unless there’s a major discrepancy or some kind of change that makes one tank feel a lot more fun than the others, I’ll probably stick with my pally as my main.

I tried tanking on my Paladin, wasn’t a fan. Its okay but didn’t have any fun doing it. My BDK is a blast to tank on and my Bear is for doing things that I just want to shut my brain off and tank.
I have fallen asleep during a Nemisis pulling a 11 delves while on my bear and he survived the pull fine without me lol

With prot pally keep in mind that priory is back and I’ve heard a number of top tanks say that boss 1 of priory has single handedly caused them to stop playing prot pally this season.

Meh reality is reality, I’m not here to take offense just pick the communities brain really. However, I’ve done (and timed) 13-14s, up there but not suuper up there. I’ll still play what I like, maybe I’m just tired of seeing raider io drenched in purple probably lol. I def have been turned away from keys just cuz I’m not vdh even at that level but thats cuz so many in the community worship streamers and tier lists.

Probably VDH again or Warrior.

Brewmaster for sure. Quote me on it.

For God’s sake Blizzy, I don’t want to make a Vengeance Demon Hunter.

They’re nerfing the hell out of Death Knight and Prot Warrior but the king of M+ is still minty fresh. This favoritism is getting old. Clip the Demon Wings out of spite at this point.

lmao.

VDH because the meta is almost always casters/spell dmg classes. It also has great CC and mobility.

Just reign in the sigils first, thats a main thing.

The fact that Demon Hunter has better overall grip utility than Death Knight now is a joke.

I still don’t know why their main utility is completely optional on the Talent tree. You have to sacrifice ~2 points to get Gorefiend’s. 3 If you want it to actually silence.

lmao.

I like my prot pally namely cuz, to an extent, it can save a bad pug group and, again to a degree, compensate for no one interrupting. But then I tank priory on it and the first boss makes me rethink everything.

eh, if you did need so many stops in modern m+ sigils wouldn’t be that big of a deal

Blood losing Abomination Limb is going to feel pretty crummy in M+, especially when if we want something to replace it (Gorefiend’s Grasp) we’re now going to have to spend another point in our Spec tree compared to our Class tree where Abomination Limb was.

It’s kind of wild seeing these changes while DH basically gets all of that (and more) and on a lower Cooldown too.
