RWF, Mythic Raid, M+

Blizzard,

Mythic raiding increasingly becomes tougher and tougher to field a competitive team to clear content. Even fringe Hall of Fame guilds struggle to field a roster that can last a whole tier. There are multiple reasons for this; two of which I wish to talk about and provide a solution.

  1. Difficulty of raid
  2. Raid buffs
  3. Minor M+ Rant

Firstly, the difficulty of raids, mainly certain bosses: Painsmith, Stone Legion Generals, Halondrus, Anduin - the rest of Sep, Zskarn, Tindral, etc. are extreme pain points for CE guilds arriving to them prior to nerfs. I understand that there are players that wish to have a strenuous and long progression, but many, perhaps the majority of CE guilds wish for far less of a challenge of the Week 14 (approx.) nerfs of Tindral. To the proposal…

Create a new difficulty tailored for RWF and Hall of Fame.

Legendary: an evergreen version of each raid that stays in the condition that the first guilds killed them in.
Mythic: Unlocks after the first 10 guilds end the Race to World First. Each of the first 4-5 bosses, depending on the tier, are tuned the same as “Legendary” difficulty. Guilds not attempting for RWF/HoF that want to enter mythic early on would encounter bosses on Legendary difficulty that would be the same as regular Mythic. This allows Blizzard to tune encounters like Painsmith or Halondrus for the Race and HoF, but guilds who encounter those fights weeks later are not waiting for nerfs.

As an aside, monetize the RWF. Utilize the store to create transmogs and mount colors that create revenue for Blizzard AND creates a legitimate prize pool for the RWF raiders. Create a lottery system between the top ten teams and the winner decides the hour in which the raid will open. For example, if Liquid won the lottery roll they could pick noon PST to open the raid (this could be a fun Blizzcon event).

Create a Echo or Liquid Dragonflying Mount that will have Gold, Silver, or Bronze plating based upon their placing in the race. This would easily go for 25-30$ and would also fuel a prize pool. Pick a tierset and make all the colors based around the top X teams. The NFL makes money off of jersey sales. Blizzard can make money off transmog sales.

Simply put, in order to compete in the RWF or HoF a guild would complete all bosses on “Legendary”. Any guild simply pursuing CE would play on the Mythic difficulty.

Raid Buffs

To be succinct, give us scrolls that allow us to pick a buff or two or three that a normal guild could be missing late into prog. We cannot ask our raiders to field 2-3 characters to provide back up on every buff. Missing Mark of the Wild is basically like 19 manning the raid - same w/ DH buff.

*Make Ret Aura and Devo a choice node. If two paladins are chosen Devo overrides Ret. Ret Aura is only a Retribution choice.

Last rant: I am a high M+ player. I care a lot about transmog as well (which a lot of high M+ players don’t care about that as much, is my perception). Why is it that challenge modes in Panderia and Draenor provided some of the most sought after sets/weps in WoW history and I am doing something many times harder and get nothing but a title. Why am I not getting a challenge mode set for getting title every season?

Whose idea was it, in Dragonflight, to give M+ players a ground mount? By the way, it looks stupid. It looks like a dragon beef snack that roams around the grass and is enslaved and domesticated for plowing fields. M+ players should be allowed to achieve high levels of RIO and get things similar to challenge mode sets and weapons.

If you read this far, I commend to you.

I get the idea but I feel like it might be murky adding in a 5th difficulty.

Scrolls need to come back for the love of god.

Now that you mentioned this, how did they not just give cool mounts able to dragon ride or even super cool unique skins for each dragon type? The infinite dragon flight skin from DotI was a cool reward. Seems like such a huge lost opportunity do something like for M+.

I think it would just allow my guild to never encounter an unnerfed Tindral where people want the tier to end! LOL In the same breath it would allow guilds in the top 30-50 to encounter bosses that are unnerfed - pride and a badge of honor.

Also, I am a big fan of RWF and can’t believe Blizzard hasn’t capitalized on the popularity of some of these guilds. I want them to incentivize other guilds and players to compete against Echo/Liquid through a strong 3rd-5th prize pool.

I’d take a ground mount over a manuscript all day and twice on Sunday.

Fair. I’m also of the opinion that if Tindral was the final boss of the raid we’d feel a bit better about Amirdrasil. But they should have never had Tindral as hard as it was even for the race. Thankfully people are coming out in droves to yell at them about Mythic Silken Court which should hopefully make them change their mind about making a Tindral 2.0.

Fair enough but I still wish they would have gave us a mount that we could have used with Dynamic Flight so we could actually use it more regularly. I think I’ve mounted on one the M+ mounts like twice and its really sad.

I enjoy watching Liquid, Echo, Method prog that boss. I don’t want to, and it’s far above “CE” difficulty. I basically want a monetized RWF/HoF difficulty.

for that to work these guilds would need capital to be at that level. these guilds go through millions of gold to make the right builds and level professions or buying potions off ah

While I realize that the idea of a “race to world first” is great for Limit’s streaming numbers, the notion of a “race” is largely an illusion and always has been. It’s like if the local major league baseball team stops by to play your local little league team. The pros are going to win unless they show up drunk AND stoned, and probably even then.

In any case, Blizzard should be focusing on getting people to play the game, not on watching other people play it on TV.

If there were a million dollar prize pool (imagine if they sell 40,000 mounts/transmogs for the ten teams). I think that’d be incentive enough to figure it out. You might not compete w/ them the first tier, but at least you’d be able to retain great players through the prize pool.

Can just send the check to Echo and cut out the hassle.

The idea is to pay 3-5th place a meaningful amount. Over time, that would develop teams that could compete (which is essentially what every pro league did 80-100 years ago). Most of them had investors and the leagues protected them (at least I know about the NFL).

  1. Another raid difficulty doesn’t solve roster boss.

  2. Raid buffs could use some thinking.

  3. M+ reward being ground mount is fine. It’s just a +1

You know that everybody else plays the game to have fun with their friends, right?

Easier bosses = a faster tier. It stops the 500 or so CE guilds in NA from arriving at unnerfed bosses. It would alleviate some of the issue. Raid buffs, which is the second thought, is more pointed towards raid attrition.

You’re not an M+ player. PvP gets wep enchants, mounts, title, transmog.

M+ gets groundmount.

A lot of the difficulty and heavy nerfs issue is because gear progression isn’t really meaningful anymore which is something they will try to answer by adding a raid buff to players that will scale each week next expansion.

Not really a fan of trying to add another raid difficulty when mythic raiding is already for the few.

Raids buffs are a whole discussion but I like the concept, I don’t think scrolls as far as raiding is a good solution because I think it’s fair to want at least one of each class to be represented. (for m+ scrolls could be an idea)

I’m more a fan tho of a wotlk design when it comes to raid buffs with some of them being shared between some specs, which mean there would be a reason to bring 2 of the same class if they play a different spec which right now the raid buff system doesn’t really encourage.

The two teams spend more than $1m/raid tier on RMTed gold.

source?

Dear lord, no. No more ESports. All it does is bleed down river and makes everyone else who just wants to play the game more miserable as it incentivizes those who treat raiding like a job.

Not to mention any drama would be amplified ten-fold. Can you imagine how obnoxious it would get if teams get slighted by the stupidest things?

say the wrong thing or speak your mind get that person fired or you loose out of this sponsorship to many esports teams get nuked by this

I was thinking more along the drama of what corruptions were in RWF in N’yalotha.
