RWF is over -- fix our loot RNG

I’m sure many of you, like me, enjoy the fact that this expansion added a bit of a challenging aspect that has been missing in the last two. Seeing the RWF last three weeks almost was pretty exciting.

But that’s all over. At some point, and someone would have to direct me to the post but there was a mention of a hotfix during Mythic progression that lowered drop rates for this expansion. Many people, like myself, understand how that tactic slowed down the race and made it more enjoyable. But now we’re all suffering.

I will share my experience and please, add yours as well.
Over two characters last week, I ran 18 keystones. I received one drop in all 18, and it was a 197 in a slot that was 213.
I cleared Castle Nathria on two characters. One received no drop this week or the week prior, the second toon received another item that was not an upgrade but a 13 ilvl decrease. At one point in BFA, Blizzard fixed that RNG so that loot rolled for your upgradeable slots more often. Clearly that isn’t the case.

Fast forward to today, vault opening day.
Three characters had 6 options.
Toon 1 - 3 pants, 2 gloves and a ring. With the closest being a 213 to a 216 I already have (ring)
Toon 2 - 3 gloves, 1 chest, 2 pants. All of these slots already had at minimum 200ilvl in the slots. and 4 slots that were 171 in other categories.
Toon 3 - 3 gloves, 1 pants and 2 rings. No upgrades at all, even stats. This toon is 191. Plenty of roll options.

This situation is echoed by many players. As someone who runs on average 20 keystones or more a week and clears a raid at least twice, I am aggravated at the wasted time. However I play for friends as well. Imagine the casual players who can’t run this much. They are getting nothing at all. Yes, some people are having better RNG than others. But the mass complaints echo an ongoing problem since the loot was “fixed” about two weeks ago.

The expansion has been going smooth for the majority. Mostly good feedback. But now, people aren’t logging on to raid. They aren’t logging on to run keys. They’re running the minimum needed and logging out til Tuesday hoping that RNG is better than what they get wasting 30-50 minutes in a run. Fix it guys. Don’t ruin an expansion because you think you know what’s best for your content. If you truly did, we wouldn’t have to complain.

EDIT: The reason I break down my personal loot RNG from the last two weeks isn’t to “complain”, but to demonstrate how disproportionate the system is. And to have you compare someone like me to a more casual player and imagine their luck. I have done my time to get my gear, as well as spent a ridiculous amount of gold. My issue stems from logging on to three people telling me they aren’t going to resub because of this ongoing issue.

Very well explained! I totally agree.

Played since end of vanilla. I like that we don’t have a ton of people at 215 ilvl that have only ran 10 keys. But again, this is directed more at the players who it’s turning off. I had three people basically tell me today they weren’t going to resub until they patch because at the end of the patch, things will be nerfed, loot will be easier and everyone will still run the same content. So why bash their head now?

That’s what this is about. It’s not an issue at the end of the day for someone who runs keys all week for IO or for friends like I do, frustrating or not. But what it DOES do, is kill the casual population.

Most casuals don’t have time to run 30 keys and get no loot
Nor do they have a network to run with all friends
No loot drops = low ilvl
Low ilvl = denied pugs
No way to get in pugs = quit game

That formula has killed many games and even killed Legion at the end. Don’t be so one sided when you read a post.

Edit: You seemed to have read my original point in one context. I only point your ignorance out right now in hopes it deters other people from failing to see the point of the post and wasting comment space.

Definitely concerning.

This loot issue is something that really should be looked at now. As one of those casual players… its significantly disheartening to come home after working 10hours. play for 3 hours a couple times a week and not be able to feel that I am progressing at all.

Less loot is less fun. Period, end of story.

Already seeing a drop in people playing. And being limited to low keystones because I don’t mean the ilvl to tank the higher ones is frustrating.

Got to cater to the neckbeards

This always happens with every expansion for a number of reasons. There is always an initial surge and then sharp drop off after the 1 month sub runs out.

If people haven’t noticed, renown gear has reached M0 ilvl this week and I have a feeling it will continue to get stronger as we progress. This will provide “casuals” with a reasonable ilvl with the minimum effort they desire.

No one I know has had a hard time gearing. I literally only see people on the forums posting on alts complaining about their RNG. Post on your main, let’s see what content you’ve actually done.

So less reward, feels more fun.
Ok then.

Pretty sure this is supported by science. Constant positive rewards reduces the “good feeling” when receiving rewards in general.

This is what I have been going through. I have received very few drops in comparison to the friends I do raids and keys with and despite doing mists nearly 15 times the first week, the only 3 drops I got were 2 for my legendary slot and 1 unusable item.

And no rewards also lessens the person to engage in the content further. So a middle ground is best but right now I dont think they met a ‘middle ground’.

This! It also reinforces the point that the no-lifers really want the big gear gap. Their ego revolves around their item level. I’m sure we’ll start to see afk bragging in SW/Org decked out in purples like in the old Vanilla days.

Many of us only play several hours a week, if we can’t make any progress we won’t play. That also means we won’t pay.

Enjoy your soon to be ghost town game ‘leets.

It’s the OG classic players coming in and saying ''Yes! Work you mongrel! for your minor upgrade! you have to work in this game, sweat for it, bleed for it, to get an upgrade!"

I’m an OG classic player, but I’m no longer 15 just doing HS and working on the weekends

Which kills me. I’m an oldie with this game and having a reference point to see the drop off - it makes me feel like we’re moving closer and closer to a P2W game. How anyone who has played this game and supported it over years could be content with this is beyond me.

Sorry, I don’t mean everyone, I just mean the ones speaking out, the vocal minority seem to ‘be’.
