Hello friends. I’m creating this topic here hoping that Blizzard will eventually pay attention to our problem. You can find more details on the Euro forums:
https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/13296
Mentioned topic and another one on Russian forums are more than half-year old, but we didn’t get any answer.
In short, we asking Blizzard to allow us use English client on Russian realms. For some old reasons we couldn’t do that.
There was a time, when Russian accounts couldn’t play on Euro servers, long time ago this limitation was lifted, there is no separated Russian accounts anymore, you can play on any European servers and choose any language combinations, for example, you can use English on French or German servers, but not on Russians. There is no any technical (English and Russian clients worked great at the same time on beta and stress-test) or monetary reasons for this, just some old flags and settings that no one bothered to change.
Recently we reserved our character names and have seen same old error message when trying to login to Russian servers with English client.
So I just ask you for your support on this matter so the Blizzard hears us. It’s very important for some of us - back in 2005-2006 there was no Russian WoW client, so we used to play English version. And many of us want to play the authentic Vanilla - in English.
It’s very disappointing and even discriminating. It shouldn’t be like that!
And by the way, many player decided to play on European English server only so they can use English client.
Hear us, Blizzard.
Thank you.

I support this. It’s not a big thing to ask for and sounds like they can revert back to the old one. Much luck to you in getting your client.

The Russians playing on English servers will know English, so it wouldn’t matter.
Look at this OP for example… Completely proficient.
I empathize with his plight. Still, the EU forums arent some joke and are not any less effective than ours.
If I were him I would consolidate my efforts onto one post on EU ( like he has) and get the post numbers up with opinions.
Also, I would need a lot more factual information before I even had an opinion on this subject.
I love Russia! I would love to play with people from there.

I have no idea what you are basing that off of ?
Are you trying to say there has never been a Russian or any other country playing on Americas servers that couldnt speak English?
Because I can tell you from personal experience that isnt true at all. How many gold farmers do you think speak English?
There are those who can speak english and then there are others who can’t and want to hang with their friends, so they will follow them onto english servers.
I remember Warsong and I also remember Blizzard refusing to acknowledge that it was a majority russian speaking server, which led to a big stink when they opened up free xfers from full realms and put Warsong in the list, english speaking people got stuck on a realm where the population only spoke russian.

Why wouldn’t blizzard want to allow this. Seems kinda not inclusive of english speaking Russians. It’s not like they are asking for an EST server of their own. Just let them use the english client on their russian servers if they want.
Unfortunately this is not the case, ours origin developers read only NA forums
Because experience has shown them what happens. From what Ive read the RU accessible servers that were in English, if an English speaker went there they found that the RU players were speaking their native language anyway, and stuck together through their language.
For Classic, Blizz gave them a Russian Client and now some want English back.
Yes, help our Russian players!
