I currently run WOW on an External HD, and was wondering why my addons settings are different from my PC when i plug it in my laptop, because it’s the exact same folders? any help is appreciated. thanks
While an external USB drive should generally work on both a PC and a laptop, the perceived difference in performance could be due to variations in USB port speeds between the two devices, meaning a faster USB port on your laptop might make the drive seem quicker compared to an older USB port on your PC; the drive itself remains the same, but the transfer speeds can vary depending on the port used.
Try a 3.0 plug on both machines, and see if that solves it.
Performance isn’t the issue…the issue is the Addons are different for example on my PC the addons are how I wanted them set-up…but I plug the External HD in my new laptop they aren’t the same. the add-on in particular is altoholic where all my characters in warband are synced up…but on my laptop it isn’t synched up.
it could be different setting presets saved for different hard drives. or just switching computers resets the setttings automatically. since the hard drives are accessing two completely different data caches from your registery and a number of other places.
Just make a backup and then copy over your preferred WTF + Interface Folders.
sounds like this is his backup and hes just switching between the two. but yeah just copy over the folders.
On principle, I always tell users to backup their stuff before I tell them to edit it in any way ![]()
the folders yeah.
