If I, a 5’7" Quel’dorei of average aerobic capacity and athleticism were to, hypothetically, pickpocket a Gnome that is average in all respects to their race, would you assume it more likely that I could get away with relative ease?
As opposed to me pickpocketing and getting into a foot chase with another Elf or a Human, where the odds are more likely determined by level of physical fitness.
How fast would a Pandaren be? Is it likely a Worgen is the quickest of Alliance races, aside from the flying Dracthyr. Is the rule of thumb simply to never pickpocket a Worgen, unless you too are a Worgen?
Don’t forget Druids of any race. They can shift into super speedy cat forms and flying forms as well.
How would an elf pickpocket a gnome without making it incredibly obvious given the height difference?
Considering small details like this is a slippery slope to realizing nothing in fantasy actually makes sense.

You aren’t thinking of the big picture here. Pickpocketing is irrelevant, it was merely a way to get two races into a… Race.
Plus… What if the Gnome is drunk? What if its a really sneaky Elf? What if the gnome is sitting on a short wall that is at the perfect height to be pickpocketed?
Now you must share your thoughts on the topic at hand: Do you think I could get away from your average Gnome in a foot chase, or would I get caught!
Draenei can run at speeds up to Mach Two when somebody mentions Coyote Pepper.

Considering gnomes run at the same speed as every other race in-game, it would boil down to which one of you had more mobility cool downs at your disposal.
Mobility cooldowns? Game? You’re using strange words stranger, I’m just curious on which race I can safely beat in a… Race, so I can make some silver pieces to pay for my rent! Living in the Cloud District isn’t cheap
You can’t beat anyone in a race.
Depends.
Gnome? Possibly. Mages with Blink, Rogues with Sprint, etc… there are ways to give oneself a burst of speed or cover distance rapidly/instantly baked into different classes.
Mechagnome? I don’t think so. Mechanized limbs means they can run on end without growing tired or fatigued, and they’re likely able to move those mechanized limbs at speeds far greater than physical limbs could endure stress-wise.
it depends on the class.
mages can root you, druids and dks can snare you long enough to kill you, lots of classes can stun you instantly.
