Topic. I’d love to see things like the following. Most of these are alterations of talents/abilities from TBC/Wrath.
HOLY
Something like a combination of Sacred Shield and Infusion of Light. And something that makes the healing rotation for Pallies more than just FoL spam in raids. Maybe something like the following:
Infusion of Light:
your FoL critical hits give the holy infusion effect to the target. The holy infusion effect lasts 5 seconds, and causes the next Holy Light spell cast on the target to have a 1.5 second cast time, and to grant a shield to the target equal to (400+(healing power*.2)) points. The shield cannot be dispelled. The Holy infusion effect cannot occur more than once every 10 seconds.
Holy Guidance:
Healing power increased by a % of total Intellect.
Empowered Judgement:
Increases the range of you judgement spell to 30 yards
PROTECTION
Combat expertise:
Increases your total stamina by 15%, chance to hit by 3%, and defense by 15. Does not stack with precision or anticipation.
Some combo of Judgments of the Just and Shield of Righteousness, Like maybe:
Shield of Righteousness:
Instant attack. 7 second cool-down. Slams the current target for (300 + x% of your block value) as holy damage. Additionally, your Judgement spell reduces melee attack speed and casting speed of the target by 15%.
Mind over matter:
Increases resistance to all schools of magic by an amount equal to x% of your intellect. (Spell penetration got to be too high by the end of Classic, IMHO.)
RETRIBUTION
Sheath of light:
Increases your spell power by an amount equal to x% of your strength and x% of your intellect.
Seal of Sanctity:
similar to seal of Vengeance, with a stacking debuff that increases all holy damage. Something that is synergistic with a smite priest.
Righteous Retribution:
Whenever you deal a critical strike with an offensive ability, your Hammer of Justice ability is immediately refreshed.

Changing consecrates damage to area healing could be cool for holy paladin

I have ptsd from that spell from my arena days. Really great ability though, not gonna lie.

Love all of these ideas. As a Holy Pally, when healing, I do not feel that versatile compared to Priests and Druids.
Maybe a prot paladin could modify divine shield.
Have it become shield wall basically lowering all damage taken by 75% but removing the attack speed penalty and now mobs won’t run from you when you cast it since you’re no longer immune

How about divine hand:
The paladin casts divine hand on an ally in 30 yard range yeeting them from their current position over to the paladin (basically death grip for allies)

Judgement of repentance: changes the functionality of seal/judgement of light and wisdom
Seal of Light now drains life from the enemy to the paladin per hit. Judging this spell puts a dot on the enemy that drains life to the paladin over time
Seal of Wisdom now drains mana from the enemy to the paladin per hit. Judging this spell puts a mana draining dot on the enemy that siphons mana to the paladin over time
Holy:
FoL criticals heal for 20% of the heal over 6sec.
Inquisition: Holy Shock has 2 charges and deals increased damage
Consecrated Ground: consecrate now also heals allies standing in it and moves with you.
Divine Empowerment: Your Blessing of Protection has two charges and no longer removes your current Blessing from the target.
Prot:
Hammer of the Righteousness. Hits up to 4 nearby targets for 40% weapon damage as Holy.
Guarded by the Light: Reduces damage taken by 10% and increases your spell damage by 10% of your strength with Righteous Fury active
Ardent Defender: Reduces all incoming damage by 50% for 6 sec. Any attack which would kill you instead returns you to 50% of your maximum health and activates Ardent Defender if it is not already on cooldown. 30 minute Cooldown
Ret:
Avenging Wrath: increases damage and healing by 15% for 10sec. 3 minute cooldown
Empowered Seals: Increases the duration of seals and their judgement by 30 seconds. Seal of Command does an additional 5% weapon damage as holy.
Sheath of Light: Increases Damage Dealt by Two Hand Weapons by 4%. Critical strikes while using a 2H weapon will cause the target to take 20% of the damage over 4 sec.
Sanctity of Light: Sanctity Aura increases the damage your party/raid deal with all attacks by 3%.
Hey man I just wanted to say I think your post was great and I winded up making it a video about it, plus more things following up with Phase 2 in SOD coming soon.

Wow, Thank you!
I probably should have put some type of disclaimer on it; I’m sure that the Classic Era Paladin Experts like Drakova or Pallytime215 would point out the flaws in these potentials runes. These suggestions might make the class OP or indirectly nerf the class b/c other classes might be given tools to compete that ultimately put Paladins in a worse place.
But my goal was to try to think of abilities that have been given to the class in later expansions, while keeping the vanilla feel and keeping the paladin a class that plays a patient, time-on-target-with-occasional-burst PvP dueling style.

Whenever you crit, reset the cooldown on your ranged stun.
Lmao. What? My guy, there are other classes that want to play the game.
The game needs less CC, not more.
I’d rather they get something like this:
Replaces your Bubble with an ability where the Paladin leaps into the sky for 3 seconds – becoming un targetable, and then in a location of their choosing within 40 yards, appears a consecration… and whatever the minimum time it takes to walk out of the consecration is later (for balance) the Paladin crashes into the center like a holy meteor dealing damage to everyone in it, hindering their movement by 30% for a couple seconds.
That gives them a mobility move, costs them that stupid bubble, but it can double as a defensive to buy them a couple seconds if they’re getting beaten on. They can also use it to run away. Stick it on a 5 minute CD and allow them to use it while CC’d.
Also it would look cool, their pull up game would be biblical. Though they’d probably die a lot more with it. But I’m okay with that.
Ya,
the more i think about it, and after watching the video, I agree that HoJ reset on any crit (not even whites, just yellows) would be OP. Would need some sort of effect like cannot occur more than once every x minutes or y seconds, and additionally probably would also be better as a reduction of the cooldown timer, rather than a full cooldown refresh.
Really I was thinking about something usable DEFENSIVELY, in order to be able to safely get off a big heal in PvP against classes that can interrupt. So maybe it would be better as:
Righteous Resolve:
Whenever you Crit with an offensive ability (NOT AUTO ATTACK), you’re next Holy Light Cast within 5 Seconds is instant Cast. Effect Cannot occur more than once every 60 Seconds.
This is more in line with what I was trying to create as a defensive ability.
critical strikes with your judgement of righteousness lowers the cooldown of holyshock and exorcism by 10 seconds
Immunity to Warlock fear. !@#!@#@ locks.
In Cata they removed the cooldown of exorcism and with 2 talent points you could greatly reduce the mana cost and debuff the target to where they couldn’t Crit for a short time. It was like a holy inquisitor with exorcisms judgements and shock.
Give me that.
Paladin already received everything we wanted. Paladin doesn’t need a single rune moving forward
I’d love to see the unyielding faith talent apply to charm, and a talent at the 5th tier that requires unyielding faith as a prerequisite. Something like:
purity of mind:
Increases your chance to resist charm, fear, and disorient effects by additional amount equal to 5/10/15/20/25% of your intellect.
Edit: admittedly, if they did this, they would have to Nerf glimmering mithril insignia.
I’ve heard murmurings that Paladins might get a rune in one of these phases that turns us into a Death Knight/Fallen Paladin thing. Sort of like how Warlocks get Metamorphsis.
If done right, that would be super cool.

Ya the quest for Seal of Martyrdom kinda hints at that! Plus that datamined rune “Path of Arthas” seems to point that direction.
But if they go that direction I really hope they provide the opposite: staying on the Straight and Narrow Righteous path. It would kinda stink to play the role of the holy warrior only to be forced down the dark path in order to progress.
