Runeforge changes

Good afternoon,

With the updated runeforges being introduced I would like to request a change on the requirements to runeforge weapons.

As it currently stands you need to be in Acherus to change rune forges. This is needs updated in my opinion. I wish to treat Runeforges like talents or even like rogue poisons.

Specifically in pvp content as it stands, you might need 2 different weapons with 2 different rune forges depend on what you queue into. Spell cleave for example you will want spellwarding. Double melee cleave, you may want sanguination or crusader.

I am open to reagent requirements or something similar. I know this may be a sore topic as we get our weapon enchants for ā€œfreeā€ but in today’s retail weapon enchants are typically not that expensive and wont break the bank anymore like previous xpacs.

In short, I would like to change my runeforges whenever I am in a rested area or pre-matches.

Thoughts?

I half-heartedly disagree.

On the one hand, going back to Acherus every now and then to runeforge a new weapon adds some flavor. I’d never go back there otherwise and death gate would be a practically useless ability for me.

On the other hand, if that’s my idea of adding flavor to the game, that’s sad.

I get that it’s much more convenient to swap runes on the fly, but I kind of feel like adding too much convenience to this game over time, in several areas, has drained it of some of its RPG appeal.

It would be good if you only had one of your specs weapon type(s) available. Right now I’ve got several 2h weapons all with different rune forges. However when we hit cap it will be some time before I can have that again. It’s going to suck when I need Sanguination and I’ve got Fallen Crusader or Apoc on, talking about arena with that example.

Not really; but you touched on the issue in your first paragraph. We have no reason to be in Acherus otherwise. Sort of seems like you’re grasping at straws with the RPG argument; the dev team moved away from a lot of that for a reason and in a lot of cases it wasn’t bad. I don’t miss farming reagents for my rogue; my old pally which I never play was worse yet back in the day.

With the introduction of new rune forges we have added utility we didn’t have before, and because of that the system should be updated. Perhaps a class questline to build a ā€˜portable’ rune forge you keep in your bag.

Do like you do with normal weapons and just put different runeforges on them like you would enchantments. I definitely don’t want to see them gain a mat cost.

With how easy our death gate is to use and get back to our last location, I see no need for such a change.

Death gate to archerus…forge…death gate back to where you were.

Come on man really…do you want everything to be automated in this game.

I think it’s nice and thematic. Runeforging only works at runeforges because this is maw magic. You can’t buy maw magic in the AH so you gotta go home to polish your weapon with some death then come back where you were and continue. Also, its a quick teleport when your hearthstone is not ready.

People seem to be missing the point. It’s not about the minor inconvenience of going to Acherus to change Runeforges; it’s about needing multiple weapons for arena because Fallen Crusader, Sanguination, and Spell Warding, are all very powerful. However, they are also situational.

If Death Knights can’t change Runeforges in the starting area of arena, then we will need to spend points on extra weapons.

And it would be expensive to change weapon enchants too if someone did what you are suggesting. These aren’t poisons or talents. These are weapon enchants.

I guess let me be more specific, essentially I would like to change runeforges at start of arenas. They can revert back to original runeforge after leaving like talents do when changed inside start rooms.

Yes, but to be quite frank weapon enchants on other classes aren’t as situational as runeforges. For example essentially the entire xpac one weapon enchant was virtually BIS for all pvp content for one class, like versatile navigation.

For death knights, we have one for damage, one for caster cleaves, one for melee cleaves.

We would need multiple high item level weapons in our bags everytime we queued.

I agree that would be good and I was thinking of how this impacts arena I guess you could be reliant on a 3rd party website to see who’s queuing but that doesn’t seem like something you should have to do.

Well that’s the tradeoff. All of our weapon enchants are free. If you want more than one, you need more than one weapon. If you only have one weapon, you default to FC.
