Runed crest cap is killing me

I did my eight delves for vault (16 runed crests), traded 90 carved from activities for another 15 runed crests, ran just two mythic +4 for 24 runed crests, then did normal raid and got 30 runed from the last two bosses. We then went into heroic (we were doing normal first) and I capped at 5 runed crests from the first boss and didn’t get any from the next three.

90 crest cap per week seems way low if you can play just a few hours and hit it. I missed out on 35 runed crests in heroic so far, and we continue the raid tonight. Are we supposed to only play 4 hours per week now?

You’re supposed to do harder content so you can cry about gilded crest cap like everyone else.

Working my way there.

I agree the cap is stupid at this stage of the season, I understand it exists to stop the ilvl gap between the player base from expanding to quick to fast, but it should be removed after a certain point so people can enjoy the game and upgrade to their hearts desire. Also good luck on that spider boss tonight, I have a feeling the kill will come today.

I guess the idea is to do content because you enjoy playing the game not just to make number go up. Gradual ilvl increases so you can do better / get stronger than you did last week is a lot better than bliz making everything harder to accommodate people being able to grind super high early on.

Typically bliz remove crest caps towards the end of the season though.

Work on the current 810 Gilded crest cap, that will give you more than 4 hours of play time.

Options are there in game-hours, you just dont want to take them.

It isn’t an instant thing here, at least not for me. I would love to jump right into Mythic raiding or M+8 but I feel like I need to work my way up and it would be nice to have the drip rewards of doing that. To my knowledge, the only real sources of gilded are last 2 bosses in heroic (we are working on that), mythic raid bosses (not there yet), and m+8 (I am still learning the dungeons as tank, and it is not an easy thing to pug. The last M+ I did the dps said pull mor, then proceeded to shoot 4 sentry beetles at one time in Ara-kara while not interrupting any. We wiped).

If that was the idea these caps wouldnt exist.

Gotta tune the content for the ilvl you expect people to be when they do it. If you’ve no idea what ilvl they’ll be because they could have grinded to be anything from 620 to 635+ you can’t exactly tune it.

Sure if your a horrible game designer and cant figure out your own games balance curve…

You are 619 ilvl… you can do 8s since 605 ilvl.
So go ahead and do the rounds for 5 > 6 > 7 > 8, gl.

Not for any one who is not used to M+, so work yourself up there and you will be rewarded.

Only if someone is used to M+, but ilvl def will help him a lot.

Friends, this is why we can’t have nice things.

We used to have uncapped currency. AP, honor, conq, valor were all uncapped at one point. Players complained about being “forced” to no life the game in order to be competitive.

They also complained that alts were impossible because they were never “done” on their main.

So now there are caps. And different players are complaining about those caps.

And there is another group of players complaining about how complicated the upgrade system is.

They are trying to compromise between the wants and needs of millions of players. Please understand and accept that. So they can focus on the future of the game, instead of having to rehash things that don’t need to be fixed to try to appease players.

You say you lost 35 runed crests from H boss kills. How many runed crests did you get total from delves + carved conversion?

You have tier, you have 619+ weapons. At this point delves should be the last thing you do for the week (if at all), not the first. At least you’d feel less bad if reaching the runed crest cap meant losing out delve crests, not H raid crests.

I can only speak for myself, but I got to 619 without ever having to worry about the cap. The valorstones on the other hand…

You don’t need to exhaust your Runed Crests before you start doing content that drops Gilded. If you’ve used all of your Runed Crests it’s fine. (pre-Mythic) Raid at that point is for specific OP Drops (Spymaster, Queen Ring, that Vers proc neck, etc), not for Crest Farming.

You’re 619. That is way more than enough to be doing +8s for Hero Drops and Gilded Crests (to eventually craft 636s).

I don’t even think you have any gear that can be upgraded further with Runed Crests.

Ehhh, slight correction. The only time we’ve had uncapped upgrade currency at the start of a real season was when we didn’t have repeatable gear sources for higher ilvl items.

Something has to exist to normalise ilvl acquisition and give bliz some idea how strong people will be, be that capped currency or just a hard limit on how many sources of useful loot a person has.

Just some hero items that can be upgraded with gilded. I did one trade already for 90 runed to 15 gilded and upgraded my helm and chest. Kind of wanted to save for 636 weapon but I play tank and balance so would have to craft two…that is 180 gilded, so made more sense to do the hero pieces.

The runed crest cap is very high right now. There’s no way that it’s a wall at this point. I’ve been converting runed crests into gilded crests for the past month.

Yeah, well, I came back to the game after a 4 year stint in the classic/tbc/wrath and kind of got overexciting with the crafting system thus wasted 180 runed there…and other stuff. My alt is doing much better, 612 ilvl and have only used up 110/810 of the cap. He gets them cheaper tho, 10 per upgrade.
