This is AWESOME!!!
- No more Rune of Power!
- Return of the Legion Shoulders effect (40% chance to get free arcane orb when casting 4-stacked barrage)
I’m really looking forward to this patch. Going to have to dust off my mage Mistwynd to give it a go.
New stuff for my evoker too… a whole new DPS spec. So much stuff to look forward to!!!
Yeah, got my Mage up to 67 then sort of stopped. Definitely wanting to get it up to 70 now though.
I also like what they’re doing with the capstones and structure of the talent tree.
Frost & Fire changes coming “soon tm”.
its over its finally over
We did it boys, we are free.
I am shooketh!!!
Yeppers it’s time to un -retire my mage…she going to have some work to do right now she’s sitting at 64…been retired since bfa…oh and I also may dust off my undead hunter too.
[My mage is wounded, battered, and feels a heavy anchor tying him to the ground. Suddenly the Rune of Power is shattered and there is naught but peace around the battlefield.]
“My fellow mages… is… is it over at last?”
Thank God. I may rejoin the ranks.
RoP removed is cool, I guess. I didn’t have a huge problem with it. I’m much more interested to see what each spec rework is going to look like.
End of an era
Today is a good day
Where is Snozy? I wanna rub this quote directly in his face, straight from the mouth of the devs:
Fighting within a Rune of Power is almost mandatory to maximize your damage as a Mage and any sort of mechanic that forces you out of it for a prolonged period of time ends up feeling incredibly punishing to your overall throughput.
In Raid, Mythic+, and PvP, having a player commit to a small space for 12 seconds is a large ask and one that just doesn’t feel fun to play around, as frequent as Rune of Power is. By removing Rune of Power we’re able to shift more of the Mage’s damage into their abilities baseline while also leaving us room to further amplify their big cooldowns (Arcane Surge, Combustion, and Icy Veins) if necessary.
Where’s your minority now?
The ONLY bad thing about these changes…
…
… is having to wait about 2 months for it to go live
I’ve played WoW since vanilla 20 years ago. My favorite class throughout that time was Mage. But I haven’t been able to play it for about 10 years because of one simple reason: Rune of Power.
I DESPISE that ability more than any ability or mechanic in any game I have ever played. I hate it. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy that it is finally gone. I can finally play my favorite class again. FINALLY.
I’m not crying! I just have something in my eyes!!
Lmaooo! Leave poor Snozy alone! This is probably the worst day of his life, show some compassion.
No but seriously, he and all the other RoP diehards are going to be the biggest beneficiaries of this change because they’ll not only get to enjoy the RoP-free lifestyle with the rest of us but they would have learned a valuable life lesson in the process as well. The greatest learning opportunities in life come from the times when you realize you’ve made a mistake.
I actually took a celebratory jaunt through my house after reading about this on Wowhead.
