run speed test on demo vs private server

I can't remember if someone already posted this, but here it is in case. Someone (Remidemmi96 on youtube) did a side-by-side comparison of demo run speed vs a good private server. The run speeds are apparently identical, but the demo feels faster because of different fov:

We need more side-by-side tests like this, because measurements > speculation.
It feels like the Classic character model moves way too fast while the Pserver has a slower character movement.
Yup the run speed was buffed in Cataclysm so the Classic Demo should be slower but its not.
Wow, you guys should be getting payed for doing blizzards work for them.

That is the exact feeling I had from watching many demo streams and comparing it to my own pserver experience (and watching others). The difference in feeling of run speed is apparently from differing fields of view in modern wow vs vanilla.

Actually if you watch @13 seconds they both pass through the same bush then again @18 so the speed is actually the same.
Try running in bear form it feels a LOT slower but in reality it isn’t...
Watch the video you muppets.

Both characters start at the exact same point, and end at the exact same point, at the exact same time.

There is no difference in speed, AT ALL.

What you are seeing is an optical illusion created by having a wider field of view in the updated graphics.

That's not what's going on here. The short version is that it's an optical illusion caused by FOV changes. Trust me, boot up any game that lets you mess with FOV options and you'll notice it there too.

Right, and the point is can the fov be changed so that it's more authentic?

It's not a minor thing, it feels very bizarre compared to vanilla.

Yea Anyone who drives multiple sized vehicles should be readily aware of this. 45 in my big work truck feels a hell of a lot slower than 45 on my bike
demo is make-up on a pig imo.
it's legion with superficial changes to get people from a far, far distance from it to say ooh and aahh.
we need a real beta asap with proper feedback etc.
i feel like this demo is just a waste of time to dig into because there's nothing under there but legion mechanics. they haven't put in the effort to change the hard stuff like vanilla mob pathing/movement that you feel and affects your play-style.
yep, same speed, different FOV, plus the different lighting as well.

It almost seems like somebody is trying to fool you into seeing something that's not there...
Watch from the :26 mark, as the characters go over the hill, they are the exact same speed.
