Run faster as a mage

I love playing a mage, but I can’t stand how slow they run. Other then blink is there a way to increase mobility on mages? Mainly trying to increase running speed

Ex. Rogues get sprint, druids get cat form and shamans get wolf form.

If you’re fire you can take frenetic speed which increases movement speed by 30% for 3 sec after you cast scorch. If you’re arcane you can take chrono shift which increases your speed by 50% for 5 sec after casting barrage. That’s all I can think of, and both require you to be damaging something.

swiftness potion ftw …

edit : from a pvp point of view that is :sunglasses:

Imma say something controversial:
Despite it being Mage’s primary defence, Mages suck at kiting. In PvP every class has gap-closers nowadays and in PvE any mob that you can’t kill in a few shots will reach you because slows are mediocre, your main one has a cast time, and they have the same natural runspeed as a player.
I’m a melee and I can kite better than a mage, no insult intended.

Mages are like Warriors, your buttkicking image comes from people out-gearing mobs and conveniently forgetting the slog to reach that point.

This is absolutely true.

I miss the days where Mage was the most mobile class (outside of maybe drood or sham). These days we’re the last to catch up after a wipe, and even uber-slow classes like DH and Warlock run past us.

well in pvp arcane has 4 blinks plus slow plus root plus polymorph, so you can stay away from slowest classes out there, but i guess i’ll opt for another main when SL launches because we’re losing 1 shimmer charge AND displacement, which reduces our blinks from 4 to 1 and that’s not just a small change, that’s a theft on the whole identity of arcane mage

uber-slow classes like DH

I believe you mean DK …?

Seriously? That sucks, what are other ranged dps that have good mobility? I’ve heard warlocks are the worse so that’s out of the question

All classes need to run faster. Basic character movement is too slow for modern games.

I have the solution.
It’s a double win too.
Havoc’s decried as way too OP, SO, let’s take the part of their mastery that makes them move faster, and give it to all mage spec’s masteries.
It wouldn’t help in the PvP sense that much since we need a tiger’s lust type move to help us there, but still, it’s a start!

I think the real solution is make a gnome and zoom in a little bit. You will be hauling!

I have the exact same problem and found the solution!
step one: visit AH type in the AH search bar: SPEED
Yes sure none of it may not fit on a high level armor but with
our new switching armor set in the character page then with the
SPEED enchanted armor you can save that armor named as speed.

Step 2: there are armor drops that do drop armor with +speed
You could try and find all the drop and or farm for them.

There are currently three gems available that you can use to increase your speed. These are:

Look at my character page to see all I have to run fast!
currently my normal run speed is at 159%

Engineering belt nitro boosts.

Final Fantasy 14 has a sprint like ability that has a rather short cool down. No matter what class or race you are, you have that ability and it’s baseline, no need for talents to have it. Maybe they can add a similar thing to WoW? I really don’t see how it can hurt anything.

Other ways to increase speed:

  • Make sure every piece of gear you equip has the “+speed” stat on it.
  • Choose Night Fey covenant and hotkey their special ability that gives you a sprint combined with 3 blinks.
