I found something very fishy as I was playing a battleground (arathi basin) and someone said something that sounded kind of like a conspiracy theory? I was wondering if others could confirm or deny that this is actually true information.
A frost DK (Deathmonger or deathmongerer was his name) said that Blizz was adding in a few - only a few - bots into battlegrounds, because so many people play horde, and it may only be 1-2 bots at a time, in select battlegrounds only. Also has been said that alliance is dead (which is very possible, I mean, they obviously lose in pvp, but the faction itself is not dead) and basically talked crap about the alliance.
I was on my gnome warlock at the time, and thought this was very fishy, and a rumour of course. One person even spoke up, saying it sounded more like a conspiracy theory. Can anyone confirm/deny any of this??
From what I understand, AI for the horde to beat up will be coming to select brawls in the future.
If they tried to pad player teams all over the place with AI in secret… I do think they would be found out very quickly and the the avalanche of hate would be immense.
Regular pvp bots may still exist though, so keep an eye out for that.
There is a new kind of weekly brawl being added called the “Comp-Stomp Brawl” In which one faction will go against an enemy team of AI players.
Blizzard made a joke during the panel where on the screen it displayed
“(You’re welcome, Alliance)”
Some took this as Horde Favoritism or whatever, and some thought that they’re doing this because so few play Alliance. The reality of it is that Alliance seems to complain about losing in PvP, so Blizzards teased them a bit.
I have no idea if this is true, but I could see it happening. I’ve actually often thought about Blizzard maybe putting NPC’s in towns to stand next to mailboxes and in the AH to make it look like there are more players than there really are.
Who knows… if Blizzard did do something like this I think that’d be the death of WoW if the players found out.
That’s very true… I suppose A.I. could be inserted into the game, to be honest. Just thought that this was something odd, as I’ve never really heard of something like bots in pvp. However, bots would know their abilities and probably fight better than some of the people I’ve seen in pvp… unfortunately…
It’s actually very hard to make bots that act convincingly like human players. Bots tend to either be much better than players, or much worse. Even if they do about the same, Uncanney valley rears its head and bots do things that players don’t forsee. There is a whole hubalo about it in DOTA2 with Elon’s AI learning to play it and beating world pros.
Supposedly, there is an Arathi Basin Brawl coming in the future. It will be against AI and not opposing players. With the slide that contained the announcement at Blizzcon, it said “You’re welcome, Alliance!”
Probably because Alliance are outnumbered in all aspects of PVP and it has been that way for years.
Unless they have next gen AI, I doubt it. Also, it’s hard to believe that there are so few Alliance players. It sounds more like a myth, spawned out of pessimism.
