Rumor: Blizzard lowering the level cap

PC gamer reported that blizzard is contemplating lowering the level cap… how would yall feel about this?

Level cap is 60, every zone is roughly 3 levels. Takes same amount of time to hit level cap.

Maybe get talents every 5 levels?

Tbh i think leveling should have a talent every level but at max level you get the current talent system we have.

There is absolutely no reason for a level squish.

Numbers scare people is the only reason I can think of for a level squish. It brings nothing to the table.

Don’t understand how giving you a talent every level or every 5 will make anything feel better - it isn’t like you are going to be more powerful. With zone scaling your power relative to the mobs will remain the same.

So, if this is true, then what are we looking at?
Vanilla 1-20
Outlands 20-25 or 20-30
Northrend 25-30 or 30-40
Cataclysm 30-35 or 40-45
Pandaria 35-40 or 40-55
WoD 40-45 or 55-65
Legion 45-50 or 65-75
BfA 50-55 or 75-85
First NEW EXPAC 55-60 or 85-95
Second NEW EXPAC 60-65 or 95-105
Third NEW EXPAC 65-70 or 105-110

By this time, Blizz should be able to wrap up the story, and give us “World of Warcraft Reimagined” Turn on the ReOrigination engine in Uldum and start over.

It’s not going to help.
Since blizz has yet to add any new additional spells or new abilities. It is a true waste of time.

Did we really need another thread about this?

I mean, it’s kind of arbitrary isn’t it?

Depending on how progression is distributed, who cares if the level cap is squished?

How many of these threads can GD make in less than 72 hours?

It gives meaningful work with meaningful rewards.

MC being a level 10 raid.

Tbh all of WoW current competitors have stagnant levels.

It doesn’t but maybe you could try to explain how so in your eyes?

Op,As of right now going through these threads on the matter.I simply don’t care because most of the players on the forum want it and no mount of reasoning is going to change that. Not even good ideas ,etc. Good luck on everyone level squish.

Scrolling for 5 seconds could get you this information. We seriously don’t need yet ANOTHER thread just stating this information.

stupid idea. they should add new abilities and talents rather than squishing the levels.

Level squish is a deal (and game) breaker.

I have no problem with a level squish. They just need to be careful in updating NPCs, so that certain zones aren’t ignored in leveling.

me and my wife heard about this survey going around…we decided that we would shut down our accounts if blizzard (Activision) did this level cap garbage. I have 29+ 120’s right now and have been playing since vanilla as has wife. even the thought of giving new players easier access to what we worked our butts off to do is an insult. a big part of this game is the leveling experience not the max level as that always changes. armor means nothing at end of every expansion but making all the work I have done over 15 years a bad joke just to appease new players who want this to be an arcade game with instant gratification during endgame content. I hate arcade games and so does wife. I realize some of you want to jump into end game content with all you macros and addons so that you are superman but I use neither and never will cheat or use addons that work to make me look better. lowering the level cap does just that as new players do not even achieve lvl 120…they just get it give to them and I want no part of that. we had level 25 guilds…that me and wife leveled by ourself …blizzard too that away…we have our own castles…blizzard took that away…legendary items…now prices are so high most all players cannot even buy the mounts that real players will not cheat to get and you ask if it’s ok that we let those cheaters and losers get max level toons doing nothing. hell no…make them work for it just like we had to do.

If it takes the same amount of time to hit level cap then there is no point in the level squish.
It is not the number of levels that put people off but the amount of time it takes. Rather than squish the levels just make leveling to the current expansions level “dramatically lower”

honestly I don’t think lowering the level cap would do anything. Yeah it might bring some new people in, but the players who have been here will still hate the leveling process.

It already is. You can go from 1-120 in a week very easily mind you. How much faster do you really need it to be?

Ya know, I was against a level squish at first but it might be a good thing. I remember when players fought tooth and nail against an ilvl squish but it turned out for the best.

If a squish is accompanied by adding depth to class design then I’m all for it. We don’t know any details yet so I’ll reserve judgment. I guess we’ll just see what happens.
