Rummaging through scrap

I understand the nature of farming, I do a lot of it, but rummaging for these toys is ridiculous.

You have to use a tinker item for ONE piece of scrap, which may or may not work (80ish% of the time). Then, once you do this 5 times, you can rummage ONCE. So, the fastest way to do this is to set up a macro in an LFR raid to use the item, pull the boss, then invis/feign death, or whatever. You just sit there spamming the button. But…you can only hold 25 scraps. It’s almost encouraging botting. The drops of scraps is low, but the drop of the toys is abysmal. I’ve done 100 rummages and gotten one toy, which I’ve been told is very lucky. My friend has rummaged 700 times and gotten 3 of the 4 toys…that’s ridiculous. I’d say this is on par with, or worse than, genesis mote farming, which is notorious for botting, to get the ~18k motes you need for all of the mounts/pets. I’m not asking to be given stuff, but come on, this is not engaging gameplay in the least. But, from what I know of Blizz, they just want your time with no reward. I still haven’t gotten one of my drops from watching twitch, which after months, they finally told me…too bad, so sad. Basically, I did the work and didn’t get paid. Anyway, rant over, back to pushing my macro and watching Netflix.

As a toy collector, I fully support this post. The gameplay related to the “rummage through scrap” engineering function is one of the worst ones ever devised in this game. Considering the toy drop rates, even a 1-to-1 scrap-to-rummage ratio would be bad, but the current 5-to-1 one is simply terrible. I too have been using the LFR approach on a secondary screen while attending to work on my main one. No one in their right mind would farm these while actually “playing the game”. A change is desperately needed to this system.
