Rules of dueling?

Rogues are allowed to stealth in the countdown. But I have never heard of anyone letting the rogue get the opening shot for free. If a rogue wants the opening shot, she better play well and GET it.

The only convention was not to use potions. Healthstones and Mana gems were fair game if you were a warlock or mage. But otherwise that was it.

LoL. A rogue was upset that you didn’t LET him open. Letting him open, is letting him win the duel. If he was any good he wouldn’t need you to “let him open”

I beat a 60 rogue in bloodfang as a level 53. He potted and had a flask on him. Even a random passer by was like WTF you potted

He said “lame” and ran away, not even a “gd”

Rogues gank me 75% in open world when I’m at low HP but can’t win a duel

umm no… it is his responsibility to find a way to open…

it is yours to stop him anyway you are able

The only rules are the ones you and the other person set up beforehand.

the only rules I ever remember were no potions

ye in a duel rogue gets opener.

Edit: the reason is : in a duel you know hes there. In world pvp youd not know. A rogue would just open randomly. You already have the advantage of knowing he is coming. So he gets the first “hit”. If he saps or cses and it breaks you can go ahead. But first move is his. Thats the etiquette.

You should let the rogue open, it’s only fair.

I did most of my dueling in TBC, the fun of dueling a rogue with any class was in trying to beat their opener.

If low level complaining, don’t sweat it.

If he wants a reduel with special rules then just discuss before hand.

Basically, some people don’t want to duel for real, they want to practice pvping.
Like in wpvp, sometimes a rogue is caught sneaking up, it’s never 100% guaranteed.

I disagree, you give him maybe a few seconds to get out of the area then you are free to spam AOE to pull him out.

because in the world you see him mounted and go into stealth most of the time.

That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard.

OP, the only rules to dueling are who you and the other person agree to before the duel. Pots, cooldowns, whatever you guys agree on is fine.

Ye no. Unless I run into you, ill just run away and restealth. Then you can spam a few times. No worries i wont open until you feel save and protected. Id only open if im sure I can win.

Hence why in a duel the rogue gets the first move. If I open its cause I decide, not you (in world pvp)

you say saying litrally you stand there like a tool and let the rogue put you into a stun lock ?

what etiquette if its rogue vs rogue ? do you flip a coin ? person opening wins btw

Yeap, a rogues strongest weapon is surprise and the ability to pick their fights.

Personally I just let the other rogue open. RVR is decided on who gets opener. There is no art in winning a fight in which i get opener and then just burst the dude down in a stunlock.

Now if i let him/her open and still manage to win, thats satisfaction

And ye, you just stand and wait till the rogue makes his first move in a duel. Look the OP asked for “what to do” and thats the meta.

Edit: I might add: You are allowed to open on the rogue if you can see him. Like a lock with fel hunter has good chances to do that. But since the majority has imp stleath 5/5 you most likely just wont.

Such stupidity, 99.9% of the time in world pvp i know the rogue is there. I’ve been watching him since he killed that yeti or that elemental over there 10 minutes ago. I’ve scoped him out and i’ve been careful not to pull to much or let my health get to low because i know rogues are scum and even if you’ve been peaceably sharing the area, the moment they finish they’ll try to kill you before they leave.

I can count on 1 hand the amount of times a rogue attacked me i didn’t know was there, and i kicked his butt.

well I dueled lots over the years, hunter is going to sit on a trap / flare and not let you open ever, that is the game #meta

Ye those exist too, but thats unrealistic aint it: hunter just sitting there with trap and flare 24/7?

A rogue opening on you out of nowhere is much more likely. I didnt make the rules, they were created based on world pvp encounters. And most of the time rogues appear out of nowhere. Hunters are not 24/7 flared and traped on the spot.

I run the log spy addon. If a rogue is in the area, i know. My ice barrier is always up, and i never let my health get low. I’m also hyper alert for that stealth sound to nova/AE. Guess in a duel i need to blind myself and plug my ears eh?
