So as soon as I entered Auchindoun, the tank AND healer left. I can play Resto or Balance, but I happened to be put in as DPS. Of course, when the tank and healer left we had to wait for another tank.
We also, apparently, had to wait for another healer even though I was perfectly capable of doing so.
The only way I could think to fix this was to leave the instance and re-queue as either. However, I was very hesitant to do so because I didn’t want to incur a 30 minute penalty. Once everyone left, I just took the chance and left without penalty. So far it’s been about 30 minutes waiting on a tank…it’s late…
So my question is 2 parts. When, exactly, can I safely leave an instance before the first boss? Second, is there anyway to take on another role in the instance I’m in?
You shouldnt have to leave the dungeon mate; when someone leaves the group it sticks you back into lfg (if it doesnt automatically, leader can queue). If you change your role when the role select prompt appears, it’ll consider you for those roles.
Yes, pretty sure its after the 1st boss.
Like I said, I took a chance and left once I was the only one left. There was no penalty. I “left” only the instance though, there was no one in my group.
I think you’re right that anyone can leave after the first boss but I’m wondering about the rules before the first boss.
I think you don’t get the deserter debuff after 10 mins?
I’m guessing just no one knows. I found the Wowhead article that pretty much sums up that it makes no sense whatsoever so you may as well just leave when you feel it’s appropriate and deal with the punishment if you’re unlucky…you can leave after first boss but can’t be kicked? Nonsense that’s not worth thinking about too much.
