So, I’ve used NVIDIA graphics cards for a while now, however, it was one of those situations where every new computer was an upgrade so the graphics by default ware better, as such I never really messed with the settings much.
That being said, ever since the Emerald Dream was added (as a timeline) I’ve have problems with FPS when fighting the world boss there or in raids (even with graphic settings turned down for Raids and BGs), my frame rate drops to 1 FPS. Placing like Valdrakken for example just this morning my FPS was 11 FPS. I know some FPS loss is expected, however, I also know with what I have it should be at least playable.
I am just trying to make sure I have things set mostly correctly, and in general looking for advice when it come to graphic settings. I’ve tried doing some research and adjusting things here and there noting seems to make much of a difference.
Would probably start by scrolling down and make sure that you don’t have Ray Traced Shadows on because not only is the implementation really bad but 2000 series cards can barely handle ray tracing as is. View Distance / Environment Detail / Ground Clutter past 7 will also destroy your performance. Other than that yeah sadly just “Intel i7” doesn’t really tell much and WoW heavily depends on single core performance because it doesn’t have proper multicore support so places like Valdraken you’re going to tank depending on the amount of players in your shard.
ED and other smaller instanced areas have issues with FPS and spinning up fans like crazy. I can go to Zaralek and be fine and normal, but ED is a total mess. I don’t know why, but it’s def a Blizzard issue.
