Rtx 5090 to play wow

Seems overkill as WoW is much more CPU than GPU reliant. I just recently killed Zekvir ?? on a $300 computer I got on Black Friday lol. I notice more graphical detail in the armor compared to another $800 computer with a better graphics card, because the computer processor is more powerful in this one as it’s newer and computers (almost always?) depreciate in value.

You can it’s certainly amazing to have a raiding system that is OP. CPU would be my first budget choice 12900KF p cores only (9800X3D would be best for now, 9950X3D doesn’t exist yet also overkill), am on 4090 (1440P it chokes less raiding usually as a pres evoker), 48gb ram also overkill 16gb would be enough, 32-48 are more smooth. Just hope you try some other games too OP BG3, D4 etc enjoy that much GPU. Vram I used to measure usage feel like 3gb still was a minimum open world experience 5-6gb used in raiding and other activities granted I don’t go for all the eye candy most of the time. 5090 would be overkill a lot of streamers/world first raiders will likely run one, 6090 will be the new process node with the majority of the new consoles hitting again likely Switch2 likely is coming first but that won’t be cutting edge graphically. 60 series will be better but could be harder to obtain, waiting would be an alternative to overpaying. WoW upgrades usually CPU first will be the best overall spend. Capping frames becomes a thing to do.

You’re gonna spend $2000 for a card to play a 20 year old game that you complain about every day?

You do you :dracthyr_shrug:

8k is more than a decade away, if it ever comes. NO GPU can handle that without upscaling. The 4090 maxed out at 3-6fps at 8k in a game that wasn’t particularly intensive. Anyone that says they are running 8k are either lying, or faking it with upscaling.

The 5090 is the only GPU that doesn’t struggle at 4k in some modern games.

That said, CPU matters MUCH more for WOW than GPU. I can’t tell any meaningful difference between a 3060 and a 3080ti in WOW. It’s all on the CPU. 9800x3d highly recommended.

Agree, If OP doesn’t have 9800X3D better spend. A modern cpu like 7400/7500F/X3D (12th gen are cheap have 12900KF) will be better spent first on cpu before gpu upgrades.
