Since they updated RTX Shadows and some new DX12 tech I think the RTX requirement was added. But you can 100% play WoW without RTX Shadows.

Yep, and since all zones have baked ray-trace shadows (Including since Classic btw) - the difference between the high version of RTX shadows / reflections isn’t much at all. The game is still traditionally made for screenspace / normal GPU and CPU setups.

That said I run the game at max with RTX shadows, it looks very nice on my 32:9 - but you really don’t have to. The only differences I’ve managed to really get are like… Crisper shadows, and character shadows I guess?

Meanwhile I’m still chugging along with my 5 year old 1660 gtx

If you got the money why not.

Getting new things is exciting and we all need to treat ourselves from time to time.

i never play games with shadows on. hate the new trend of forcing shadows on.

RTX 5070 for $550~

Nvidia stream at CES is going on now.

Eh, my 4070 TI Super is probably fine. Maybe…

How much ram you got tho? That will make all the difference.

And isn’t wow a CPU focused engine?

Yeah you need more AI in your graphics card to play WoW, like 500 gajillion gamerflops worth of AI, just pack those babies in

I’m going to keep chugging along with my GTX 1080, i’ll just grab a RTX 5060 or something when they come!
