Since they updated RTX Shadows and some new DX12 tech I think the RTX requirement was added. But you can 100% play WoW without RTX Shadows.

Yep, and since all zones have baked ray-trace shadows (Including since Classic btw) - the difference between the high version of RTX shadows / reflections isnā€™t much at all. The game is still traditionally made for screenspace / normal GPU and CPU setups.

That said I run the game at max with RTX shadows, it looks very nice on my 32:9 - but you really donā€™t have to. The only differences Iā€™ve managed to really get are likeā€¦ Crisper shadows, and character shadows I guess?

Meanwhile Iā€™m still chugging along with my 5 year old 1660 gtx

If you got the money why not.

Getting new things is exciting and we all need to treat ourselves from time to time.

i never play games with shadows on. hate the new trend of forcing shadows on.

RTX 5070 for $550~

Nvidia stream at CES is going on now.

Eh, my 4070 TI Super is probably fine. Maybeā€¦

How much ram you got tho? That will make all the difference.

And isnā€™t wow a CPU focused engine?

Yeah you need more AI in your graphics card to play WoW, like 500 gajillion gamerflops worth of AI, just pack those babies in

Iā€™m going to keep chugging along with my GTX 1080, iā€™ll just grab a RTX 5060 or something when they come!
