Today I installed my RTX 2070 card and unfortunately it has had issues with World of Warcraft. I upgraded from a 1070, and with TSM loaded up I was running with around 100 FPS minimum, now with the RTX 2070 I am running around 60 fps max, in combat I hit lows of 30 fps. I thought that it was an issue with the card initially, but my other games seem to be running at around 150 fps. Could anyone lend a hand as to what could be causing these performance issues in WoW?
did you do a wipe and install drivers after?
As mentioned above, sounds like a driver issue.
Yes, I have installed all of the necessary drivers for the new card
Did you check that your settings didn’t reset themselves? If you’re hard-capping at 60 but only in WoW it sounds like you might have the FPS limit enabled.
FPS limit is capped at 200 rn, it seems that the issues are more centered around new zones, like Nazjatar, Kul Tiras, Zandalar, etc, whereas Stormwind and MoP zones are giving me about 115 FPS
might want to post in the hardware forums, theres some really knowledgeable mvps that check it
Sounds like some sort of weird interaction between the drivers, that particular card, and the game. Try playing with the settings, turning one off entirely at a time and see if you can isolate a specific effect that’s causing it. There’s been a few times in the past when an effect or setting would drag my FPS down and I’d have to turn it off until Blizz or the driver vendor patched the issue.
Specifically which RTX 2070 did you buy?
I will try it, I got the gigabyte rtx 2070 windforce 2x 8g
Did some digging around, perhaps this is relevant?
Play game in legacy 11. 12 is broken. RTX puts game on default to 12.
I upgraded from 1070 to 2070super…had same issues as the op…went to dx11, no vsync, no problem.
That fixed it, went from 50 to 120 FPS in Nazjatar just by doing that. Thank you!
No problem! I suffered that issue as well with RTX 2080.
