RTX 2060 reported leak date/price/performance

tl;dr
performance rivals 1070ti and will cost $350 founders edition (means 3rd party will be closer to 400 msot likely)

I think you meant RTX 2060 in your title instead of RTX 1060. The GTX 1060 has been out for awhile now. Also, the FE of the RTX cards have actually MSRP’d for more than the non-FE cards. They’ve also come with higher boost speeds and TDP.

And also, remember that GTX 1160 models have already been spotted in the wild.

So those will likely be cheaper and offer similar performance or performance just a bit below that, and be cheaper.

WTB GTX 1180, ain’t buying into the ray tracing crap :S

As has been said before (ad nauseum at this point), ray tracing isn’t the only advantage of the RTX cards; they also have some cores that should theoretically vastly improve FPS while rocking high levels of AA.

Where my AMD “moar cores” peeps at?

Your paying for 30 Ray tracing cores on a 2060 that you’ll never be able to use. Until the remove ray tracing I’m not buying into any of it.

What you just said directly contradicts the article OP linked. Personally, I don’t put much stock into leaks, but, since that’s what this thread is about, here’s what the article says:
The leak also affirms that the GeForce RTX 2060 is capable of providing a decent playing experience in Battlefield V with ray tracing enabled at the 1920 x 1080 resolution. The graphics card reportedly pumps out 90 FPS with ray tracing disabled. With ray tracing on and Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) off, the GeForce RTX 2060 delivers up to 65 FPS. That jumps to 88 FPS with DLSS on.

Considering the fact that the 2070 can barely pull that, I doubt it.

Maybe you missed the driver update that greatly improved RT performance. Also, note that there are different levels of RT that can be activated. You shouldn’t expect the cheapest RTX cards to be able to pull off ultra RT settings.

IIRC the “updated” driver setting was just reducing RTX feature implementation to get frames up.

IMO for the time being it’s basically just gimmicky like Hairworks.

Source???

I forget, probably one of the bajillion youtube videos the tech streamers did on the BF5 patch

I expect a 500-600 dollar card to continue to play a game at ultra 1080 yes

tl;dr they reduced number of RT calls to get more performance

legit source too, thank you

Some people want to be first and can afford the price. It’s obviously clear that doesn’t apply to you. Good for you. Personally I think that your expectations are unrealistic given that these are first-gen cards for new eye-candy tech. There are always first-gen taxes to be paid. Always.

Seems like a good quality/performance trade-off to me. Still looks beautiful with RT on.

I would also expect a 500-600 dollar card to outperform last models 500-600 dollar card, which it doesn’t. The 2070 barely outperforms my 400 dollar vega 64

It’s a cool feature and if you got the money to spend on it, that’s cool.

It’s a gimmicky luxury for now, IMO.

Maybe in a few generations it will be a great feature.

But most people aren’t willing to give up frames or resolution to get it.

And it STILL only exists in one game, I just don’t see it taking off with Console gaming still being the largest portion between console and PC, and consoles may never pack the bunch to get things like RT.

DLSS might, but RT may be DOA
