I made this comment for m+ on reddit, for arena on the forum as it stands for pve and pvp ( as someone who do arenas, do my weekly m+ and only play 1 character, i get to see all kind of comp and resto sham is barely ever showing up )
In m+ and pvp ,
They need to buff chain lightning and lava burst by a ton if theyd want rsham to be on parse with a hpal or a rdruid ( Im thinking a vanilla like chain lightning, 6sec cd, big burst, high threat maybe as a downside or high mana cost), ( maybe lava burst could spread flame shock?)
They need to buff mastery or rework it to be on parse with others healers or buff ascendance somehow and spirit link ( Ascendance is OP but 3min cd is a long time and it last for half a big pull most of the time, which is not enough. Spirit link is OP too but 3 min cd … maybe 2 charges? )
It would be nice to see Ascendance buff rsham dmg while it last like wings does. ( imagine a big chain lightning with ascendance up … man it would be awesome)
It would be nice to see the so called use all charge of earth shield at once on a 30sec cd or 45s ( kind of a NS heal but lower cd ). Baseline. Damn maybe a 2min cd if 30 sec is too much, or high mana cost.
Oh and please give us GUST OF WIND back as ghost wolf trait will be done and it was such a bad design. Juking kicks and hard casting was doing less healing than kiting in ghost wolf most of the time… thats so bad.
I think a lot of people enjoy rsham but since bfa started , i just notice lower and lower Rsham player as the spec is lacking and in the shadow of the other healers all the time. ( note that doing a +15 is doable anyway even early season but so much harder than those op healer classes and of course getting high ranked, but how many high rsham is there compared to high hpal ).
I prolly miss stuff, those are just idea , things i think would make rsham great. Id like to hear other people idea. I dont know if there’s high rsham who doesnt play with a tank lurk the forum and have great ideas ?
I think adding a dumbed down fulmination system like ele and giving them Earth Shock/ Earthquake would be nice. Maybe some way to make Chain Lightning Instant too?
Mastery Change would be nice too. I’m personally too nervous to let people drop real low in m+. Not a fan
I don’t expect much change to resto because of how quirky it is, but the mastery is problematic.
Here was my suggestion:
I talked with a friend for about two hours on how an Overload* (Hearthstone) like mechanic could be implemented as the new resto mastery and we couldn’t figure it out.
On paper, the lower the target is, the higher the heal will be is very nice and looks super great and its very distinct from other classes but yeah in reality it garbo. I kind of love ur Overcharge idea , im sure something could be found there.
Agree that the gameplay would feel sucky and numbers would be trivial for the cost to change it. I was looking for “splash” healing and I really liked smart healing (back in whatever year that was). But there’s too little interaction otherwise.
But Echo of Light isn’t much different in that regard. Would make the mastery like a passive mini Ancestral Guidance.
Things I’ve had ideas about while playing resto:
Resto shaman tank heals could work like fulmination where you build the stacks and at max you use an ability that heals for a massive amount.
With the removal of Essences like Spirit of Preservation this would allow shamans to still have the big save heal at their utility in 5 man content.
I haven’t played SL resto, but reading about earth shield it needs to be on a CD like the other class tank CD’s are where it can be used as a big save.
Mastery is a hot button topic. I really don’t think it’s bad as I do like the fact that you can bring people back from the dead with its stronger heal at lower HP levels, but I feel like it’s dated when it comes to M+ where ideally HP bars are full to prevent sudden death from big damage.
I like the idea of a splash heal mastery that jumps from ally to ally healing them even when using ST abilities.
