RPS fundamentals?

can any of the top level rogue/sp/rsham kindly provide some fundamentals on this comp?

for example general strategy, how to properly line up cc chain, pin-point kill target, etc

i've been playing at 2300 mmr just purely based on reactive play, and would like to form a real executable strategy to proactively win games.

Comps we mostly face are RMP, turbo, owl play, cupid, jungle, RMPala, RPS mirror

thanks in advance
I would recommend asking Pikaboo this on one of his streams, he's really active with his chat and they're the best RPS in the world.
Yeah, I've tanked rating several times attempting RPS myself. Even with gladiator exp rogues. The rogue just seems to flop if something doesn't die in the first go. If anyone has some insight on how to play this comp, I'd also appreciate it. I'll be waiting for Pika to stream though.

Thanks Dillon. I do watch pikaboo's stream but he doesn't have time to really talk about the fundamentals, usually he's answering questions very fast. So all I could do is watch the games, which are very entertaining however hard to figure out the details.

From my experience the rogue will be the opposite team's kill target 99% of the time, so it is about keeping the rogue alive. If the rogue is good at pumping out damage we win. i think it would be easier to secure kills if there is an optimal way to chain cc. perhaps silence into blind into hex?

Usually they do strong goes with a kidney on kill target with a silence on the healer at the same time.

Wiz plays panda since the incap is also another solid instant CC, with fears and psychic horror out. You can get some really nasty CC chains on healer that are hard to avoid so it's all about coordinating those for when the rogue can deal heavy damage.

It's important for the priest to use utility such as MD/Grip and MCs to stay in the game (with MC also having offensive usage too).
yeah makes a lot of sense, seems to be very heavily dependent on how well the sp plays, thanks a bunch!
I feel like I don’t MC enough in my RPS games. I also have yet to find a Rogue that will hold Kidney until my silence is up. If we go a healer and they don’t line up one after another, they can’t get enough heals off to survive.

Seems like all Wizk and Pika’s kills come off a Kidney and Silence combo either chained on a healer or one the dps and cs on the healer. Seems like every LFG Rogue just does it on CD without coordinating with me, even if I’m vocal about holding for a few seconds. I feel your pain.

To be fair with Silence you can just hold yours until he kidneys as well, because even with Kidneys 20 second Cd he won't really use it immediately off CD due to DRs, in which case it's easier for you to line up your silence with it. So basically, you can kinda play around them tbh.

True, for some reason I was thinking it was 30 seconds and lines up with my silence with Last Word. I just thought they were doing a go without me every time. Thanks for telling me I’m wrong in a nice way lmao
RPS is a setup comp, kind of like RLS, but you trade damage for utility.

The basic premise is

1. No one is safe. You can kill anyone, at any time.

2. Stagger defensives and keep the spreist alive until he reaches enough insanity

3. Get in voice. Talk about the next setup and prepare the priest to get dots/start cleaning the target.

4. Be flexible with CC setups, as you could use the CC chains of stun/silence/fear/he/blind/sap in any number of ways.

5. Try not to tunnel. Take advantage of enemy CD overlap and set you to jump out of the bushes and pump em in the !@#.

It takes alot of practice and supreme coordination. The comp is high risk, high reward.

Tbh I was also thinking you were playing horror instead of last word although I know last word is really popular, just because it lines up better in my head.

Since one is like 24 second CD (kidney) and silence is 30 it can kinda be annoying in those cases for sure

Best you can do though is if it isn't lined up well to just hold it till next go though tbh. If the go is bad no reason to commit to it, same thing would happen in WoD for me sometimes on Spriest with godcomp (deep 30 seconds and horror was 35) so I would just hold it if the go failed from them not lining up with you.

Ah okay. That's what I meant by irking me. I'd have like 5 seconds left on it and they kidney, so then I have to hold it for another go in 20 seconds or whatever when we could have went harder if they had waited 5. It does work both ways though.

I try to never blow a silence randomly without kidney unless is in desperation and someone's about to die from a casted spell. Waste of a CD if you're not chaining anything together.
