City Raids are great fun when they have a clear goal. Either a daring assassination of an enemy player (preferably pre-arranged so there’s actual resistance), killing the enemy leader, killing a specific NPC, etc. The “Look at us we took screenshots in the other faction’s district for an hour and made sure to swing by the Wyvern’s Tail / Cathedral District / Auction Houses hahaha” ones are… admittedly goals but they’re ones that smack of that negligence that oh right, those are other human beings we’re inconveniencing right now. They don’t feel great (to me anyway) because they don’t often show respect for your opponent at which point… what’s the point?

Yeah I get the whole boredom / end of expac thing and I even get when the enemy bosses scale up to the next expansion (or used to) so it’s time to test out how good of a player / your gear is but this is also the time people are usually gonna be on the fence about playing more, don’t make life harder on them, c’mooon.

The whole griefing events thing, your own faction or not, I’ll never understand. I felt like I was pushing the envelope enough when I named my PvP guild Cuddle Puddle and wore a bright pink tabard with a black heart when AOO was having a lull, and that only affected people I ran past or killed.

Get some crossfaction RP going beforehand, have some rivalries built up, plan a big, massive attack with plenty of advance notice to the opposing faction so they can prepare some defenses, and/or relocate their RP if they don’t plan to participate, and then have an awesome epic battle.

I can’t say I’ve really seen it happen since vanilla but it can potentially be all sorts of fun.

Far be it for me to encourage Ravenhul, but what exactly are posts like this supposed to accomplish? They aren’t funny or amusing, and they certainly aren’t going to dissuade him from doing his thing, and they don’t make you look cooler.

My view on PvP is that world PvP is only fun with some degree of organization and objectives with active opposition.

I just tend not to find running around and randomly killing fun personally.
