RP Servers

Moonguard all the way. Wyrmst is full of elitism and not much room to be creative ;(. But yes MG for alliance and Wyrmst for horde :(. MG will be more welcoming and help you ease into RP, where Wyrmst community looking for people that already know what they’re doing.

I left Scarlet Crusade because it was a husk of it’s former self.

Yeah, sure. But they’re looking to experiment and see if they can get into it. The interactivity of in-game RP is how one figures that out, by participating in the action itself, not doing all of the homework first and then figuring out it’s not fun for them.

There are people on these forums, in this very thread who clearly RP. Setting up a walk up with the OP and partaking in RP with them might be a better introduction considering it can be free-form, and the OP can have the security in understanding they can ask who they’re RP’ing with questions for clarification.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t do all of what you said, but I don’t think discouraging them from participating in something is good either. We should encourage people to try new things. It’s fine if they make an error. Fixing it is part of the RP experience, including new discussions and OOC transparency.

I’m discouraging them, I’m saying they should get some experience before they go in so they can not only receive a better experience, but also give a better performance. It’s like getting into raiding. You gotta run dungeons, LFR and level up before you jump into Normals.

Uh. I disagree with that too. LFR isn’t the place to learn anything. If someone wants to get into raiding, they should get into normal mode first with a proper group of people. As a raid leader and GM of a raiding guild for 10+ years, I’d much rather someone come to me and say they have no raiding experience as opposed to they’ve done LFR and nothing else.

But, that’s off topic. RP is different than raiding. It’s meant to be interactive by nature. Creativity and interactivity should go hand and hand. Forums can work, but they’re less interactive with gaps in between responses. Again, I’m not saying you shouldn’t do some of what you suggested as well, but as an avid RP’er as well, I’d much rather someone with zero experience go in and enjoy themselves and learn as they go rather than…this.

MG for Alli side, WrA for horde. However, if you’re specifically looking for Nightborne community it may be worth making a thread in the WrA server forums asking about those communities. I’m sure there are some but not a whole lot probably, I know someone who had been making one but haven’t seen them around in awhile so can’t be sure on it anymore.

Also, I think this could be said for either side… It just depends on the people you meet and care to interact with . I do think MG is very welcoming though and the community is nice.

I actually know nothing of Scarlet Crusade. I just saw this. Scarlet Crusade is never a name I see come up involving RP for either good or negative reasons though. Does it have an active RP community?

I know we used to have a great RP community. As for how it is now, I think it is still strong but I stopped RPing years ago.

Maybe when I’m feeling froggy I’ll make a level 1 on both sides and hit up the various hubs. Maybe there’s some kind of gem.

I was reborn on Scarlet Crusade in 2006. It was amazing back then, but by the time CRZ happened, it was a shell of its former self.

Like other folks have said in this thread, Moon Guard has a bigger Alliance to Horde Ration, and vice versa for Wyrmrest Accord with its Horde to Alliance ration. Both definitely have playerbases on both factions, but if you want to be playing with tons of people each day without fail, I’d say go MG if you’re going blue, and WrA if you’re going red.

However, in regards to WrA, I’m going to have to agree with what Ravenmayne said about the elitism on WrA. I’ve met a lot of people on both servers, and while both have their bad apples, I still encounter a lot of people who consider themselves “RP elitists”. A lot of the time, that just translates to “I try to police what people can and can’t RP” and most of the time, they aren’t so much the best-of-the-best in the community (despite what they like to think), and more often than not tend to be super judgy about what people RP. You’ll encounter people like this on both servers, but for a long time, there was a lot of people who felt that the “good” roleplayers went to WrA if they wanted to be taken “seriously”.

That said, the servers are big enough that you’ll find plenty of people to roleplay. If you find a crowd you don’t jive with, just try again later and you’ll have a new pool of folks to work with. Definitely find a guild to get the most fun out your time RPing in WoW. It’s not a requirement, but some of the most fun I’ve had with this game was RPing with a guild. That’s literally the one thing that kept me from quitting during WoD.

The one that has goldshire.

That’s what I remember too. I stopped RPing sometime in Wrath. I just don’t want to try anymore and just play the game and have fun doing what I do. Too many people RPing half dragon half vampire or whatever. So many bad RP things.

I agree with this. I’ve played on both. I was horde on WrA for a long time and switched to Alliance during WoD. I really enjoy how friendly the community is, and it’s really easy to stumble across random RP (especially if you use an addon like TRP since many folks put ‘walk ups welcome!’ and similar in their profiles so you know who’s willing to play).
