In the shameful event that RP-PVP is not created there should be a unanimous Defacto RP PVP server decided upon by the community. I know server lists are not out yet but when they do, if RP PVP is not included (which is unacceptable) and standard PVP server should be settled upon.
My only concern with this is if they decide to release a RP PVP after the fact that it could fragment the community that could be forged as this has happened before.
Just another brick in the wall for the case of having RP-PVP at launch!

RP in retail has all but been killed off due to changes that were quite unfriendly to RP. Less RP in classic vanilla than retail? Nothing could be further from the truth.

They are wanting us to pay $15 per month, and wont even give us every server type. Retail has like 100 servers, constant updates, dev, gm support and many other things for the $15 per month.
Id say most people that want an RPPVP server for classic have no intentions of playing retail any longer. So we are getting the bare minimum for the same price as what the current expansions players are paying, while they are getting much more for their money.
Activision doesnt understand that players who want classic, want nothing to do with retail. Having classic and retail for the same sub, is like saying; sub to star wars the old republic, and get classic for free. Most of us are not interested in SWTOR (BfA), we just want classic.

I agree with Altrageous. MG and Wymrest Accord are still very strong as is ED the RPPvP. I played on MG and ED until early this year. I’m not an RPer but trust me its there. There has been a migration over the years to a few servers. Many of them started in old WoW and I think an RP and a RPPvP Server will overflow. I know my old ED guild is looking for a Classic RPPvP either as a casual character or to restart their main if a RPPvP server is created. If it happens, I might have to go Dwarf but still 94.66% sure Tauren Druid.
The % will be smaller in total possibly if Classic doesn’t blow up retail but I bet there will be a lot more RP-RPPvP main players in Classic as a % of the total than currently in retail.
Be young, live large! I am over 50 and I refuse to have any negative vibes.

This seems like incredibly wishful thinking but I hope you’re right for your sake.
I love RPing in the live game but have no interest in RPing through Classic, which I’ve already RPed in before and know the world will be perpetually trapped in a time bubble.

I see where you’re comming from, the future gives you more idea’s etc. But, Vanilla is a good DND world with enough free roam to make a lot of your own story. I mean you’re from Moonguard, Retail, RP is much less bountiful, i mean you remember Kor’kron legion? Or any other Warband Guilds on the horde? All of em are MIA quit etc, only two servers have any RP moonguard, and WRA for some other points.
There’s a good chunk of people who still don’t follow a lot of lore in expacks Wod / panda where good example’s of this people just didn’t care / follow there story lines.
Also in Vanilla you become much much more attached to your toon, because it’s a real pain to write up there entire story AND level them to that point. To add to this MANY MANY people who played Retail never ever seen the old Azeroth, since they started cata + and those Rpers are pretty much getting a whole new world for free, i’m sure a good chunk of em will test the waters. Vanilla being much more community based then retail will encourage a lot more RP a big problem with Retail RP is it’s more akin to phased / Group types. I.E you’re in a guild and or in the main city walk up’s. There’s not a lot of middle ground. However in Vanilla it’s more less tame and more wild, and so on.
Besides. Wishful thinking got Us Classic in the first place. I’m not sure if there will be Less or more Roleplaying around in retail or classic. But there’s obviously a lot of people who would and do want To roleplay in it, and have no interest in Retail.

I actually have multiple characters on most RP realms and not only are they active, they’ve actually made a come back in BfA. For 3-4 years my original RP realm was pretty much devoid of RPers but since BfA launched I’ve been seeing RPers regularly.
Again though, I hope you’re right for the sake of those that do want to RP in Classic. I know what it’s like to be on a dead RP realm and it isn’t fun.

RP-PvP - because player generated content keeps people playing long after the other content has been completed. Relationships keep people invested in the game.

Hopefully it doesn’t come to having to make our own home. The closer we get though the more I think we will.
1 RP-PvP realm per region is all that’s really needed. Not even per region just for the larger regions. In total you would just need 2-3 worldwide at launch. That should be enough and if they fill up will you can just make another right?

As someone who didn’t start playing until 2008ish, I’ve always yearned to experience the original game. I once went so far as to create a guild whose single rule was no dungeon finder or no battleground finder, and everyone joined with a new character. If you wanted to run something you got together with guildmates and you walked there. And you always got into some World PVP on the way. It was an absolute blast. It promoted playing together and encouraged people to get back out there and actually quest to level, and fall in love again with those zones you had so much fun in as a newbie. When you finished a dungeon there was a sense of accomplishment, and everyone geared up a little bit.
Give you one guess what kind of server that was on? RP-PVP, obviously. A huge chunk of the people that are going to want to play Classic are going to come from RP-PVP servers. The sense of nostalgia, community, open-worldness, challenge, taking it slow, smelling/picking the flowers… Those are all things people on RP-PVP servers crave. If the argument is “you can just join an RP or PVP server”, you just don’t get it, and obviously never played on an RP-PVP server. It’s not about the servers rules. It’s about the community and the type of player it attracts. RP-PVP is not the same as an RP server or a PVP server, and it’s sad to think those very distinct realms are being conflated.
I quit playing WoW years ago, and have always wanted a reason to come back. Since hearing about classic I’ve been waiting anxiously for its release. But with no RP-PVP server, I’m not coming back. Or at least I’m waiting until Bliz makes it right.

In order to raise my engineering skill i need to craft some dense dynamite. I know i can find some dense stones in Searing Gorge which i can use to craft the blasting powder i need. After making my way there I come across an Orc mining the nodes I was after. I wave to him and gesture for him to move on. He grunts and makes some rude gestures, or pehaps it was a friendly greeting, I’m not well versed in Orcish culture, and continues mining. I move South in the hope of finding another Thorium vein. As i deal with the golem that seems to think its his job to guard this vein the same Orc warrior rushes by and begins to mine the vein. I politely smile and bow to the Orc because Blizz says I should
