RP-PVP: FAQ, rules and classic

Greetings fellow RP-PVPers,

The next step for us will be to help put together what does it mean to play on an RP-PVP server. I was looking for some of the older posts we had on Emerald Dream and maybe some of you can find your older ones so we can come up with a written plan/guide for the server. I am not a writer but maybe someone who is an RP-PVPer and a writer can help with the next step. Hopefully, we will also get a sticky for our server. I think it is important for those who are interested in RP-PVP to know what they are getting into when joining an RP-PVP server and what they can expect.

This is our older post that we had. https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20759527607
Yes, I am ready for the next step going forward.

A lot of the links to Blizzard’s own pages 404 in that previous post. I’ve been looking for clarifications on rp-pvp rules, especially when it comes to PvP vs RP events. Does the “if there is a PvP way to solve the problem, Blizzard won’t intervene” apply to RP events? I understand that griefing is not allowed within a faction, but if we repeadetly crash the opposing faction’s event, will we be penalized by blizzard in some way?

The rule set for PVP are in place for RP-PVP servers, however, you can expect to see RPers out in the world doing RP. With that said, if they are not with Orgrimmar or Stormwind, they can be attacked by others who are flagged though this is frowned upon to grief RP events by both sides. Usually you can tell if some folks are RPing.
Sometimes a group will stop attacking if they realize they were RPing. Sometimes this is not so, and will need to call for their guild or a known PVP guild to come in and help guard the RPers.
The only time RP grieving might be penalized by blizzard is if it is the same faction and they are making inappropriate comments. This might apply now to retail as well with elixir of tongue.
Other than that, a person can be reported if their name is not an RP name or their guild name is not RP enough but the guild name reporting is rare.
Usually if a guild is known to crash RP event, they may not get invite to attend events, or will be shunned by the community. This can be hard on some of the guildies who might be RPers even if they do not crash eventd. The community will shun all of them. This kind of action can also put a bounty on that guild and those members by the other faction. So for that guild that crashed events, It can be harsh to deal with folks going out of their way to repeatedly camp or gank members.
As to the questions, the basic answer is grieving is dealt with by the guilds on a server. Classic RP-PVP will be the same way.

Overall, RP-PVP servers are unique and fun to play on. Sometimes those red folks will not mess with a new leveling person and other times they might kill you once just because you were there. Hope to see you on Grobbulus.

I’m not big on Gatekeeping myself but here’s what blizzard said

although i doubt the later will be enforced nearly as much. Everyone on RP servers talks like that now so long as they note they’re OOC etc.

It was really never enforced anyway.

What’s more important is keeping discussions on things like politics, religion, current events, and other popular troll topics out of public channels. No one cares if you want to talk about non-WoW games in general, but if you’re being excessive about your attempts to drag the real world into WoW, the fact is that the server rules prohibit it and you can be reported.

rp pvp is the new moonguard. sorry moonguard you didn’t get to decide.

Generally speaking that’s how it normally is on all servers, besides /world which is just pure chaos. Trade trolls normally are ignored or die off unless they’re savy.

Moonguard was always just normal RP never a RP-PVP server.

Another reason to go horde lol

huh? what else there to discuss taking that out of equation. do you just drool and make derp sounds irl?

well, it just happened this way.

Oh, I know. RP servers just have an extra tool to deal with them when necessary.

we live in a new age. the preconceived notions of “pvp, pve” to seperate the rp community is gone. the shackles have been shed.

but like a swiss army knife kind of tool.

There are plenty of folks on moonguard who are not whatever you are trying to make them out to be. This is like the second or third time I have seen folks trying to say this. If you have ever played on an rp pvp server you would know horde goes there just kill everyone and start wpvp. With what you are saying will only bring world pvp to goldshire. Best to move over to moonguard retail or go to the rp server. Wpvp will be strong and there will be no time to play footsies. RP-PVP server will be about battling, fighting for your faction, server pride and honor.
