Dese be da the rules, mon! In a nutshell:
- Choose your Loa!
- Assign your dice to your choice of stats! (There’s three of them.)
- Get ready to ruuuuuuumble!!!
Choosing a Loa
The DMs choose the Loa pantheon list each Rumble, such as the Amani troll gods for a Rumble taking place in the Ghostlands. Each participant chooses and announces their patron Loa from this pantheon. (I mean, you could choose to not have a patron Loa, but why would you?) The spectators then vote for their favorite Loa from this list, one vote per spectator.
The top two Loa from this vote grant their fighters the ability to add a +2 bonus to one of their rolls (or their health pool) once during a match. This can be added before or after the roll is made. Loa cheat after all!
Choosing Your Stats
Each fighter gets three “dice” to assign to health pool, attack rating, and defense rating. The values of these dice are 10, 8, and 6.
Health Pool is your hit points–how much damage you can take before you get knocked out.
Attack Rating is your chance to hit and also influences your damage.
Defense Rating is your chance to avoid an attack and your damage reduction; this can also be RPed as healing if you have a healer character.
The two fighters will roll off (a straight /roll) to see who attacks first, and then alternate attacks each round. (Example: Player A won the roll off, and attacks in the first round while Player B defends. Then Player B attacks in Round 2, with Player A defending. In Round 3, Player A is back to being the attacker, and so on.)
The attacker rolls out of their attack rating: an attack rating of 8 would do /roll 8, for example. The defender would then roll out of their defense rating: a defense rating of 10 would be a /roll 10.
If the attack misses, nothing happens. (Example: Attacker rolls a 3 out of 8, and the Defender rolls a 9 out of 10. The attack misses.)
If the attack hits, the defender takes damage equal to the attacker’s roll minus the defender’s roll. This damage then comes out of the health pool. (Example: The Attacker rolls a 7 out of 8, and the Defender rolls a 3 out of 10. The Attacker’s roll is higher, and so the attack hits. Then, 7 - 3 = 4 damage. The Defender’s health pool is now 2, down from 6.)
Whoever reaches a health pool of 0 first loses the match.
