About
Byltan is a kaldorei holiday dedicated to the celebration of burgeoning Spring time. This year, the festivities and ceremonies are being hosted in Root-Bound Sanctuary and will be open to both Horde and Alliance participants. We kindly ask that all Horde and Alliance parties treat the event with respect by honoring the festivities with peaceful participation. Additionally, please refrain from actively practicing “dark” magics (fel, death, Void, etc.) at the festival, such as summoning ghouls or demons. The Sentinels of Bel’ameth will be quick to escort transgressors out. For additional details, see “IC Expectations” in the F.A.Q.
If you come from off-realm and require an anchor invite, please /whisper Celassa-WyrmrestAccord.
Ritual of Renewal
Priestess Sylve will lead those who wish to participate in the cleansing ritual. Traditionally this ritual is conducted with the intent of cleansing ones essence of the past year in preparation for all upcoming occurrences in the year to come. Those participating in the ritual are asked to don ceremonial robes which will be provided by the hosts.
Tree Planting Ceremony
To honor the arrival of spring there will be a Tree Planting Ceremony within the space within Root-Bound Sanctuary; both symbolical to life arriving to the newly grown tree but also to aid in the efforts of fostering balance and growth within the recently born ecosystem of Amirdrassil.
For immersion, we recommend participants bring a Winter/Spring/Autumn Blossom Tree from Merchant Greenfield at the Sunsong Ranch in Pandaria, acquired through the Tillers. Alternatively, you can grind a one time package of tree seeds from Ella if you get to Best Friend status with her. This can be accomplished by farming gifts from the nearby patches of Dark Soil in the Heartland’s giant vegetable farms, and giving them to her. But this is not a requirement to participate. Please note, it takes 1 Day for the trees to grow in your character’s ranch, so please plant them the day before!
Mazu's Dance of Life
The ritual itself is meant to call upon the power of the sea to nourish the land for the coming year, and provide enough pure waters for life to flourish after the Byltan holiday.
OOC note: This is a lyric-led (in /say) group dance, involving specific movements everyone is intended to perform together in unison.
Costume Craft Contest
The theme of the contest is: The Eternal Cycle of Life and Death. The festival of Byltan celebrates the cycle of life. Where the saplings of tomorrow thrive thanks to fallen trees of the past, Byltan encourages its guests to learn from the lessons of old and focus on the potential of the future. but toys are not! Additionally, you can partner up, but the prizes will be split!
Three winners will be selected (1st, 2nd, 3rd), and each winner will receive a gold prize. First and second place winners will also receive a special pet or mount in addition to their gold prize.
Libations & Celebrations
Gift Exchange
The gift exchange is a portion of the event that involves giving a gift of your choice to a fellow member of the community. To participate, simply attend the event with a gift of your choice and ensure that it is in a wrapped gift package (click link to see limitations). Please, refrain from wrapping poor quality items, and please do not feel obligated to wrap expensive gifts. The gift exchange takes place during the feast at the end of the Byltan Festival. Gift roulette rules apply, which involves exchanging your gift with someone in the community up to three times, so that the gift you bring passes through 3 pairs of hands before finding its intended recipient.Vendors & Entertainers
We encourage any who would like to attend the event as a vendor or performer to do so in the grassy areas around Root-Bound Sanctuary!Budding Friendships
Those who are interested in making new connections are strongly encouraged to wear flowers in their hair, around their wrist or carry bouquets of flowers with them, to indicate you are looking to meet new people (are open to walk-up RP).
