Is it really too much to expect the tank to have a route planned out in MDT and ready to share with the group before starting the key? Too often people get offended just cause you asked to see it (and other group members will defend it???). Im not talking about the straightforward dungeons like TJS or SBG. HoV, AV, and AA are all pretty customizable in how they can be ran. I dont wanna go into a 22 blind with random people. Thats just stupid. The 2 minutes of route planning elimates a lot of potential confusion and lets you plan your own actions better in the dungeon.
That’s really weird that the whole group would get defensive asking for a route, I don’t pug higher than the 16ish range but I wouldn’t be upset if somebody asked for a route before the key started. Seems like an unlucky grouping you had there ![]()
I often don’t have it plotted in mdt. Or I have 6 cobbled together count estimates. I’m not saying I fly off the handle when asked, but I do say, “Give me a couple minutes to plot it out”.
Let’s not forget that some people prefer to have keystone guru on a second monitor over having mdt in game.
Thats completely acceptable tho and ive had some tanks give that response as well. As long as youre sharing it in the end it doesnt really matter. Like i said the 2 minutes are worth it and ive timed keys in the past because that discussion happened.
Even in both of these I want to know exactly how we’re playing the courtyard, if we’re grabbing packs through the door, if we’re playing pandas or the fatty outside 2nd boss, if we’re doing 2 elementals at once etc.
Also I kinda wince whenever I start an SBG and the tank pulls the pack of 3 right at the start.
Realistically, can you memorize someone’s randomly shared route in the time you have between the share and the dungeon start? If you can, props to you… I sure as heck can’t. I just follow the tank and hope for the best. If I am the tank, I just follow my route and hope everybody else adapts.
The alternative is not pugging high keys, which I highly recommend!
Not a flex, but I can. It’s not like you need to memorize absolutely everything. You’re looking for the combinations and rest pulls as well as any red flags. There’s also the whole matter of skips. Nvm that once you’ve imported it, you too can have it up on keystone guru or open it periodically throughout the downtime.
Probably not in its entirety, but I can check it against what I’m used to so I can plan out my cds better.
It would be more about asking questions or noting when small vs big pulls will happen. You don’t need to memorize the route at dps or as healers but looking at it is helpful.
@op:
Same as sackless, normally my MDT is just a mess from me… Well messing around with it but the route is in my head. But I’ll gladly share it if asked and given 2 minutes to fill it in.
Not court of stars though you gotta wing that one imo.
Yeah you kinda wing the second half depending on how many freebees you get / where the enforcers are. First half though I wanna know if we’re doing docks 1st or last, if you’re taking trash with the 1st boss etc.
My MDT is a complete mess. I have so many routes I’ve just randomly saved across the weeks from pug runs I’ve opened that I clicked accept just to get the box out of my face.
Whenever I share routes to pugs they forget the route by second pull. Rarely do I see the point unless doing 24+.
I mean I dont even use MDT I always just made my own routes so yes it is too much to ask
Nope, only random butt pulls allowed for CoS. Sorry.
Damn bruh its a good thing youre incapable of 20s.
My current mdt is all over the place as its just random pulls here and there just to figure out what i need to pull before doing a skip.
Last time i had super detailed routes was shadow lands season 1 because the prideful affix demanded that level of planning.
Nah I could do 20’s I just dont like sweating while I play games
Well I do share the routes sometimes but 99% the parties arent bothered to have a look.
Damn take it easy on em!!! ![]()
Why do they make you sweat?
Because I dont like to be challenged
